Hello Everyone!
I apologize for my long absence. I was preparing for my paintball battle at Oklahoma D-Day where the Allies were to attack the entrenched germans. Numbers were low this year but the Allies stood victorious at the end of the day!!!
Temis, would you mind verifying the entrenchment rule you just mentioned on the FoW forums then post a link? I would like to look into that as well. I also want to note that there are german armies in FoW that can use defense as part of the point costs in their army lists.
I have some other updates for you:
agreeing with jeremy in his last post I have been discussion things with steve. Here is what I have so far, so that we can have a fairly accurate Invasion of Normandy Game.
1) the proposed date is Sunday 31, July, 2011
2) 4 Axis players and 4 allied players
US Airborne
British Airborne
US Landing Fleet - New Steve with the 1st ID
British Landing fleet
German Force 1
German Force 2
German Force 3
German Force 4
3) The Points
Points will be as per the games rules layed out in Das Book with no exceptions as of yet (pending input from the d-day rule books, and the d-day forums, regarding this type of game format)
4) Layout
2 rear tables set 4' end adjacent to 4' end, this creates a table that looks like 4' x 12', with each table being one of the airborne missions.
2 forward tables set with the 4' edge against the 6 foot edge of the back tables, making sure that the out side egdes line up (this would create a four foot gap between tables). These two forward tables would be the beach landings, one being british, the other being us. It should look something like this:

Players would be able to move from the front tables to the back tables by using bridges/roads as shown [approximately] by the arrows in the above diagram.
This game is meant to re-enact the invasion of normandy and have it be fun. Some of you may not think this will be fun, I would say give it a try because this is our first year and we can make some revisions for next year. We are making every attempt to not muck with the game. I will ask my friends in Pougkeepsie how they do their game every year, lets also take a look at the d-day issue of wargaming illustrated.
Feed back Anyone?
I am looking forward to this and I will be bringing at least one player from bennington with me.
Thanks Everyone!!!
