...and people wonder why I don't play 40k that much anymore. By the way...I've been playing Necrons since the codex came out and I've always played SA the way we've just house ruled it.

Sorry you thought it was dumb for me to ask the company that makes the game rather than the people I hardly get a chance to get down to and play with on a forum that they Jokingly hate me making more posts about Necrons on even though I learn threw asking questions. I didn't think it was "dumb" I said it was a waste of time. If something is a gray area and the TO (and everyone else, for that matter) at the store where you play (and frankly, every store I've ever been to) believes it should be played a certain way there's really no point in arguing it. Otherwise, Tom if it makes you feel better about yourself: See, maybe this is where things break down. I don't know you, and you can't read tone on a forum, but not for nothing man you really come off as abrasive in posts like this. Anyway, I think the answer for this has been clearly given. All of this is predicated on a misunderstanding of the Sweeping Advance rules in the first place, what with the whole "The destroyed unit is removed immediately. Unless otherwise specified, no save or other special rule can rescue the unit at this stage..." bit on page 40. Unless there's a place in the WBB description where it specifically overrules Sweeping Advance. I haven't seen it.

The only issue, as I see it, that could require house rules is what to do about previously downed Necrons in the unit: Do models in the unit that are killed in the shooting phase or in CC before the sweeping advance happens that are in the downed state during the sweeping advance get pulled with the sweep, or does WBB protect them and let them lay where they lie? This kinda got lost in the firestorm, but I think it is worth discussing just so that we have complete clarity on the position. IIRC, we've always played it that those in who died before the sweep can get back up if they have another unit of a like type within range and they meet all the other criteria. The kill point (or VPs) for the original unit is earned by the opposing player and the refugees are just "added" to the other 'cron unit. But if there's no Tomb Spyder or like unit nearby, then they're dead.

Oh yeah, I guess we did miss that.
I think Droofus has the correct interpretation of it though.

Technically, per the Necron codex, they get to lay on the table until they have a chance to make a WBB roll. I usually don't play it that way, but it doesn't say what to do with Necrons not in range of a like type/spyder who would otherwise be eligible for WBB.
Also, it says exactly S2xT. So for a T4 Warrior, your S9 Lascannon or S10 Vindicator would not deny WBB. I don't play it that way either, but I do find it hilarious.
And the Monolith GAINS shots when it suffers Weapons Destroyed results! And... And...!!!

Such conduct is unbecoming for the bearer of the chops.

You're right. Though I would hope you'd automatically assume that I was doing it ironically. I just love that picture.

All in all I just think it is funny that Devin brought up vaginas.

The Necrons are stirring in their tomb (aka motor pool bag).
We will see what they do tomorrow.
