Hello, just posting to verify that I'm signing up for the summer league. Late of course. My name is Jason and I'll be attempting to play Space Marines. My 40k career consists of one game as of yet so I'll be around for anyone looking to pick up some easy points. Hi Jason, I think there will be quite a few people showing up at the store tonight if you want to get in a game or two and make up for lost time.

Scenario for Week 4- 800 pts
Having waited long enough for reinforcements, and now with armored support, forces move into the field en masse, pushing back opposing forces in the continual search for the portal.
In the distance the ruins of a city is sited. But first there is a large stretch of jungle to cut thru.
"You think they're friendly Sarge" ??
In order to get across the jungle the armies have to move thru. They don't realize the jungle is full of feral predatory hounds. Your army will be constantly assaulted as they attempt to move thru.
Setup uses the Recon mission rules, as well as the win conditions. (pg 83) Roll for level. Once the game begins you and your opponent both deep strike a squad of five hounds anywhere you want on the table. The hounds have the following profile, and will always move toward and assault the closest squad on either side every turn.
WS4, BS0, T5, S5, I5, LD10 , ATKS 2, Fearless, Cavalry.
Make sure you mark the squad of hounds that you deep striked, Because those hounds that you drop will be the ones that activate on your turn. However just because they act on your turn , doesnt mean you control them. Remember they always head directly towards the closest squad and assault them if able.
When the squad of hounds you dropped initially are all dead, drop another squad at the start of your next turn.
So yea... they keep coming.
The store has 10 Dire wolf models in the glass case, you are premitted to use them, but as always , please be careful.
Bonus pts.
+5 pts for wiping out at least 20 hounds.
+3 pts for keeping at least 40% of your army's pt total troop choices.
Hopefully this isn't to confusing, as always ask questions if needed.
Happy Hunting.
The hounds always count as deep striking on the turn they come in on. So the ones that come in at the start of turn 1 count as deep striking on turn 1. There fore they do nothing that turn.
You can shoot in to your opponents close combats with the hounds. Hits are randomised. ie, 10 hits become, 1-3 hits dogs, 4 -6 hit your opponent. Take morale checks as normal at the end of the shooting phase, if your opponent breaks though, the hounds are only allowed to consolidate.
You can also assault into a close combat between the hounds and your opponent, the hounds attacks are then divided evenly between both players squads. To make it fair if there are 2 players involved in the combat, the hounds cannot be made to attack independant characters unless there are no onther viable targets. So , they have to kill all basic troopers involved before they can snipe characters.
I think all questions have now been answered.

Sounds kind of like zombies sans cards. I like it.

Sounds cool. Couple of questions though...
Do the dogs deepstrike on turn one or just before? Makes a difference on whether they can move and assault first turn.
You say the setup uses the recon rules. Will recon objectives be in place as well?

Hey almighty zorbag, a quick question. If your opponent and a unit of hounds are in combat with each other, and your forces are not in the same combat, can you fire into the combat?

Can you fire into any other combat between two sides other than your own?

Not that I know of, but this game isn't made for three way battles. So it is a legit question.

Ok, I believe all questions have been answered for now. Refer to my post with the mission description.

Isn't the only objective in Recon to be in your opponent's deployment zone? Other than victory points... That's right. VP and enemy lines (you score VPs for your units in your opponents deployment zone at the end of the game), unless you roll alpha, in which case it's just enemy lines (whoever has the most scoring units in the enemies deployment zone. Oh and E-Dawg, you may want to put your results in the 40k league results thread.

Posting the weekly results here is a serious violation of the rules. I think it results in forfeiture of all points earned for the week.

I just thought Recon would be more fun if you had to fight thru hordes of flesh eating hounds.
