I dont think Fuzzums picked those missions because he favors them. I think he picked them because they are the most TACTICLLY different(for list building). Even if you a build a list for a specific mission you may end up very strong for that mission, but weaker for the rest. Guard are the only army out there that i know of that can oo a good fast attack, heavy, and troop selections in a 1500 point list. By good, i mean multiplies of a good unit.

And I wasn't saying "pick" missions before the tourney starts, my suggestion was that Drew roll randomly BEFOREHAND and post them on here at least a day before the tourney.
I would like to add though that the FoC missions are also a bit of a double-edged sword. Yes you have the potential for an additional 3 scoring units, but each of those units is worth an additional victory point and Heavy support has become squishier in 6th.
I'm not saying "Lets make sure to do these missions!" I'm saying lets not roll randomly before each round begins. Not everyone has gotten in as many 6th ed games and they might not have as much of a solid grasp on the new mission scenarios as everyone else. Yes, having the missions posted ahead of time will most likely result in a few tailored lists, but it means everyone should know exactly what the scenario will be going into each round well in advance which should result in a smoother, quicker deployment.
I still like the idea of rolling random, just well in advance so we all know what to expect on saturday.
Also, in defense of hand-picking scenarios from the book (be them FoC ones or not.) Depending on what three missions are chosen it could force people to bring those all-comers lists your looking for. If both Big Guns Never Tire and The Scouring were included, it would certainly be difficult for most armies to tailor a list to handle both. Keep in mind it's a fairly low point tournament, these squads tend to be fairly costly if you want them to be worth it. I know I for one, would probably fill a few extra fast attack slots but would leave my heavy support empty. At 1500 pts it's simply not worth weakening my list as a whole to fit an extra scouring unit or two. I used to run two scouring units in 5th ed no more no less for 90% of my games. Add in a kill point mission and I bet you most the lists there will end up being in all-comers format.
Again, not encouraging these missions being selected, just playing a little devil's advocate for them. We should still have missions determined prior to the tournament. We have for every other.

Gos forbid the days of the 6 troop choice, lack of much else, lists go away. I mean really, who wants anything else in their books to mean anything more.
Random or picked, I don't care. Whomever runs the tournament has always selected scenarios before hand. If you don't trust the TO to be fair, then don't come.

No one said they don't trust the TO.

Sorry for my inattention to this thread. I think I was hypnotized by Fuzzum's avatar every time I tried to come look at this. Anyway, the missions will be:
Crusade on Dawn of War; Purge the Alien on Hammer and Anvil; and Big Guns Never Tire on Vanguard Strike.
I find it appropriate that the first tournament on this edition will use the first three missions on the first three deployments. I could have waited until the day of to announce this, but I feel like that would give me an unfair advantage if I play.
I understand the concerns regarding FOC, but let us not forget that there is a built-in disincentive for the FOC as well as an advantage.
Night fight will be rolled for on a mission-by-mission basis. Terrain will be pre-set up and no terrain will be mysterious. Allies will be allowed.
Hope to see you all there!

Discordian, i asked that because when drew does the missions that have a random amount objectives he will have a fixed number(normally 5) so that every table is playing the EXACT same mission.

Your request is granted. It seems pretty reasonable, as I have a hard time denying you a 2 wound character with a 3+/5++ in a world that features Mephiston and Draigo . That said, maybe you'd like to share with the group the basics of your forge world selection so that it's not a total surprise on Saturday.

Thats a good catch poofy about the number of objectives.
I may use a forgeworld character librarian that swaps out combat tactics for inflitrate, for power armour infantry only. I say may because it is a conversion project I've been working on and most to all models are not done.

ALL WILL FEAR TACTICAL MARINES!
Or like not..... because they are in fact tactical marines, but they will be sneaky.
