Im not a big fan of choosing to have other FOCs scoring. Rolling to randomly decide that I dont mind because it wont effect peoples list building.

I can understand why you wouldn't like the other FoCs scoring; however, that is a part of the game now.
I was going to write up this big thing about how it wouldn't affect list building, but I would like to hear why you think it would be any different to randomly roll vs predetermined (Like every tournament I have been too has been.) And is it safe to assume randomly rolling we wouldn't do the same mission twice? I'd like to hear that because that's the only reasonable way to do random mission rolling.

Personally I don't mine either way. I just don't find myself a fan of the idea of only choosing the 3 objective based. Not all armies are IG. And since objective games now represent only half, it seems wrong to go with only that type.

You mean it is "random" part of the game now. And yes I've gotten used to it. Rolling encourages balanced lists because in fact no one knows whats going to happen. And I enjoy those games more. There are now 6 different missions, 3 deployments, and 2 dimmer switch settings; creating a variable game of 36 different round scenarios (I'll admit night fight donst really matter so 18). I will be genuinely surprised if there is a repeat.

Blodgetter you have a point about taking only objective based missions. We could make one of them kill points? I think the relic is a poor mission my self, so that shouldn't be included.
There are 5 objective missions by the way, where are you guys getting 3 from?
I think choosing balanced missions encourages balanced lists. By choosing 2 FoC missions and a regular objective mission it will force people to bring parts of their army they would not normally bring. Not to mention it would encourage people to bring more then 2 troops if they did not already. I don't see how probably rolling 3 "The relics" would encourage anyone to bring a balanced list. You say it shouldn't repeat, but with as many games as I have played you would be suprised how often we repeat missions.

I don't know where you are seeing people "saying there is only 3" from.
I get that you don't want to roll. But the missions you want to cherry pick where created with the idea that the other missions where present. They are balanced in the assumption that they where not the only mission types to happen. They are too simple to be taken out and played in a void by themselves just as they are in my opinion.
You say it makes for more balanced lists just by picking those three. I say it creates for far more balanced list by having more then those three, or at the very least having more elaborate rules than stock missions.
Drew could very well be working on 3 for this weekend for all we know. I just don't want to force him, or us for that matter, to try and make decisions for a game that is in fact different from what we've been playing before we play it more.
Anyone else have any opinions other than us three bored people?
P.S. if we end up having to have someone sit out because of the numbers Ill step up and rock, paper, scissor you for it Drew.
P.S.S. Relic is very much like 5th Dawn of War was, people dont like it because people dont want to plan for it to happen. And it is very unfun when you have one side who is planned and one that isn't.

The relic is a perfectly fun mission. I just don't think it makes a very good tournament mission my self. But that is just my opinion.
I don't mind that we play most of the other missions. 5/6 of them are fine. I just feel repeats will ruin the tournament. There are just some missions that are painful to play... so playing them twice in a row would suck.
I am not trying to cherry pick. I am trying to avoid silliness.
P.S. I realize this game is pure grimdark silliness, but I would like to mitigate it as much as possible

I personally think the random roll off is a bad idea(for tourny play). You might as well show up and play three pick-up games. I like when drew comes up with the missions. But if this time he wants to use three of the new ones im fine with that. I just hope they are decided on before the day of the tourny.

Rolling each round would be a very bad idea especially for our first 6th ed tourny. Personally I think it would be fun to use each of the three deployments once and have Drew roll sometime this week for the missions and post them on this thread =). As for the random nightfights..... my army is too biased to voice an opinion on whether or not to use that =p

And I'm biased against automatically declaring hey your fast attack are scoring.
And biased for heavy support being scoring.
I just don't want to deal with it. So I vote for random or custom structured missions not just cherry picked from the book (that are balanced in the fact they are random while inside the book).

You really like the term "Cherry Pick." Just gonna put that out there.
I don't know what your problem is with the FoC missions, but you know what? We do not have to play those. The main point of this conversation is to attempt to explain why random rolls are a bad idea. We don't have to choose any of those (Though why we wouldn't is confusing to me because every time I have played one they have been balanced games no matter what list was brought.)
I would personally appreciate a reason why you wouldn't "Want to deal with it" as you can easily bring a power house list to missions like that. But personal reasons set aside, what would be your problem with it?
I would also like to know what you are going to do if we roll FoC missions for all 3 games? Random is random. You need to be prepared for it to backfire.
The missions them selves are balanced yes; however, the missions are not balanced for a marathon of game play.

Can I make power house lists that takes advantages of given scenarios? Dam right I can. So can most people. If randomness forces three FOC missions I wouldn't care at all. I don't even have a problem with the FOC missions at all. Just like how I don't have a problem with any of the missions. I just don't like the idea of going hey I like that one, and that one, annnnd that one. Tournament go.
