Then it puts the lotion on.
Also are we looking at Undefined?... Hmm thats actually not a bad name for a Chaos lord, host or deamon. The Undefined...
And I've officially gone off track.

It looks like allies are back in. I really like the idea of fielding my Tau with my Eldars.
But I hope that you can only take one detachment, any more and it starts getting silly......

no chart yet, the current word is that you can take a detachment of your own army as an ally too
Aslo that it requires 1hq and (I think)2 troops from your own codex, then it requires 1hq and one troop from the ally codex. After that you get 1 elite 1 fast and 1 heavy slot from the ally book
So theoretically if everything I read is true, even army's with no other allies on the chart can use it to have 4 elite/fast/heavy slots

I think allies will open up some really interesting possibilities from a fluff, competitive, and modelling perspective. I don't think it's going to break the most powerful armies as those will probably be best when played as a pure list, and it will give a huge boost to the underpowered ones. I mean, is it a real boost to a Grey Knight player to tow around a mob of IG with a lord commissar just for some Vendettas and manticores (which can be glanced to death,) or is he better off just spamming away with the Grey Knights stuff. Likewise, is adding a squad of long fangs to a BA list or Storm Ravens to a vanilla list going to be that OTT. A squad of Necron wraiths jumping alongside some death company might be cheddar flavored, but I feel like the mandatory HQ and troop will balance it out some along with some of the other ally rules.
From a fluff perspective it lets folks build a representation of forces that have existed forever in 40k stoires and previous editions but aren't currently represented by a codex (Tau Auxillaries, chaos renegades, space marine crusade forces, rogue traders' private armies, chapter serfs, etc)
From a modelling perspective, it opens up some very cool and fluffy counts as modelling (Ork looted tanks and diggas?) or for someone like me that likes small armies, I can try out different models or units that I like without having to build up a full force. Pretty sure I'll be converting up some Ork Freebooterz at some point and maybe some Gue'vesa.
