I know it's only September... but the onset of Fall has me thinking about Halloween. I used to always have a Diablo LAN party on/near Devil's night... but that has waned in recent years. I'm a big fan of Descent: Journeys in the Dark (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=5). I was wondering if anyone else (Robert.. nudge.. nudge) would like to have a Halloween Dungeon Crawl day on a weekend in October? I've only had the chance to play the game a half dozen times, so I'm interested to see how others interpret some of the rules. I have the Altar of Despair expansion along with the core box. I may even paint up some of the miniatures for it. Here's the very first miniatures from Descent I painted: Jeff

I might be interested in this. Some sunday would work best for me. Saturdays are a little dicey in the fall! I will keep checking back. Rod

I'd be all over this.
Maybe we should start a sea of blood campaign? Or is that too ambitious?

Now that you mention it Rod, Sundays are probably better for me too. As far as a campaign, would one Sunday a month work for everyone? I think with enough notice, I should be able to schedule it. Do you mind "Overlording" Robert? Is one Sunday a month too spread out for a campaign? By the way... has anyone else seen the Hirst Arts molds? Here's a link to Descent replacements: www.hirstarts.com/cavern/descent.htmlAnd here's a great water cavern project: www.hirstarts.com/cavern/watercavern.htmlJeff

Count me in for Descent as well. I own both Descent and the Road to Legend Campaign and would love to participate in a campaign. I could commit to meeting once a month to play – either as a player or overlord.

I could commit to one sunday a month. Starting in October would be fine except the weekend of the 16th and 17th. Sounds like fun.

How does once a month on a Sunday work for everyone? By the way, I own very Descent expansion, so we should be all set.

Hi, I thought I would get the ball rolling by looking for input on these questions here:
How does a tentative plan for the first Sunday of each month sound? That would mean that our first session would start on Sunday October 3rd.
It would be best to determine who will be the PC's and Overlord before we begin. Robert and I had talked about this. I would be willing to be overlord but I only own the main game and Road to Legend. Robert owns all of the expansions but hasn't played before. Whatever we choose, it's important to make sure that the PC's know at least some of the basic strategy (both in the dungeons and the general campaign map). The campaign is pretty tough on the PC's at the beginning.
To make things easier I am willing to act as the "GM" to help organize/setup the sessions. I can do this as Overlord or as a player - but whoever is overlord will have to participate with the setup of each session. I assume these sessions are at Triple Play?
Do we want to to a Road to Legend Campaign or a Seas of Blood campaign? (My personal preference would be to run a RtL campaign and save SoB for the future) However either option sounds good to me.
Next what expansion components do we want to use. Do we want to use all the elements of each expansion? (Treachery, feats, etc...) Or do we want to just add the equipment, monsters, and quests found in the expansions? I think variety would be good - however we may want to be careful not incorporating too many rules at once.
Last question, can everyone make a *general* commitment to the campaign? Unless the Overlord wins early, playing once a month may take around a year to finish. I don’t have a problem with this, in fact I think the once a month timeframe will help keep the game fresh. I just want to make sure people are aware of the length involved. It should be a lot of fun!
Thanks,
Andy

Andy, Rod and I discussed, and it looks like third Sunday is a better fit.
That's: Oct 17 Nov 21 Dec 19 Jan 16 etc.
The first Sunday cuts into some vacation time I've got in Oct and Nov, and more importantly, into Carnage.
We are looking at 5 people for the campaign right now: Rod Jeff Andi Matt Robert
I know Matt is the most shaky of the 5, but if anyone for any reason has to bow out, you are first in line, Brad. The campaign is strictly 5, though. One overlord and 4 characters.
Time and place is yet to be determined but Triple Play seems the obvious choice for now.
I agree with everything else Andi put down.

Actually October 17th would be out for me. I could do it the following sunday the 24th. But the rest look good. (for now....)

Ok, Schedule adjusted, and I also stretched it up a little:
Oct 24 Nov 21 Dec 19 Jan 16 Feb 20 Mar 20 Apr 17 May 15 Jun 19 Jul 17 Aug 21 Sep18
Can everyone on the list commit to this schedule (at least the 2010 dates?)

I'm checking with the long-range family schedule, but I'm pretty sure I can commit.

Looks good for the first three in 2010. (And most likely January too...bonus!) Actually good to have a schedule like this. I can now try to make plans around the campaign, when possible.
So we are talking at Triple Play around 10-11am start time?
