I finished reading The First Heretic over vacation. It was full of win! Now I would like to read Prospero Burns and other HH books. First Heretic was something akin to DUNE.
The First Heretic deals with how The Word Bearers turned to chaos. There were a couple of questions that were left unanswered but it overall put a good image of the Legion in my mind.
My question is how could the Emperor not realize that destroying a perfect world dedicated to him built by the WB and humiliating him in front of those conceded Ultramarines would not destroy Lorgar and leave him vulnerable to Chaos? Why did the emperor not warn his legions about the dangers of Chaos? Was the Daemon telling the truth about the Emperor's Sons (i.e. the Primarchs)?
I will have to pass it on so maybe we can some discussion! ;D

First Heretic was something akin to DUNE. Wow. That is high praise. So it's pretty much the best black library book you've read by a long shot?

I say that is is akin of DUNE because of the religious and governmental overtones and questions that the GOD EMPEROR of DUNE contains. FH is not as profound as God Emperor but it is a far more thoughtful than alot of BL books.
It is my favorite 40K BL book by far. I hear that Prospero Burns and A Thousand Sons are just as good. There are still some BL fanstasy books that I love, but they are hard to compare.

I really liked First Heretic, though I get really pissed off whenever those books give an in-depth look at the Dropsite Massacre. Filthy traitors... I mean, Death to the False Emperor! Corax was completely out of control though. That might have been my favorite part.

Wait a minute Tom... do i sense heresy in your heresy?!
I agree Tom. My favorite part was when he dealt with Guilliman! arrogant twit! I liked the last bit with Corax and Lorgar too. Although it showed Lorgar as a bit of a wuss. ( I suppose he was compared to other Primarchs) We only hope Lorgar is tougher as a daemon prince in the eye. Corax was a complete bad ass.
Poofy, I will bring the book to pass on to someone saturday if you are interested!
