Seems to have been a lot of talk about doing some FOW Campaign gaming in 2011. A series of games based on a theme. Maybe map based. A mix of team (Axis and Allied) objectives and individual objectives. So, perhaps, there is an individual winner but only if his side also wins.
Here are a few of the theme ideas I recall:
D-Day Italy (Jeremy has Monte Cassino!) Market Garden Tunisia Bagration (Battlefront actually has done this as a campaign game boxed set. We do have a lot of US players and would have to suspend our disbelief at them operating in Russia) On To Berlin
Folks may want to offer up others.
Thoughts? Comments? Preferences?

On To Berlin probably needs some further explanation. My thought was for an Allied team to each take a Front - Italian, Russian, Western and we could divide the Western front up between a Northern (british) and a Southern (US) if we had 4 allied players. Each allied player has to advance through four "territories" to get to Berlin. (So, for the Brits it might be Normandy, Calais, Arnhem, Hamburg) A win advances them one territory but a loss or a draw does not. The Axis team rotates among the Fronts so we don't always have the same opponents. Campaign ends with a big battle for Berlin. Whoever fights their way to the Reichstag and plants his flag there wins. Throw in some special rules for various stuff - air superiority, German counterattack, a Hitler factor, etc.

And then there is always the St. Valentines Day Massacre megabattle to fit in somewhere. Think Tanksgiving with out the Tanks. Of course it also could be the (Insert Holiday Name Here) Day Massacre
PREPARING FOR BATTLE 1. Each side must nominate an overall commander which will represent a higher command team. Any Company commander within 6¡¨ of the higher command team may re-roll its company morale check. Other than allowing company commanders to re-roll their company morale check, the higher command team acts exactly like a company commander team. 2. Add up the total amount of companies for each side and the side who has more companies becomes the attacker. The difference between the total amount of attacker companies and defender companies will determine how many Stratagems the defender receives. Consult the table below to determine which Stratagems are being used. 3. The attacking side chooses which table edge to attack from. 4. Nominate all of your combat attachments and Kampfgruppen. Each player must then nominate one combat platoon per company and set them aside. These platoons represent the Frontline Platoons which will have special rules located below. 5. If the defending players receive additional fortifications then all fortifications are placed at this time. Fortifications may be placed anywhere in the defenders half of their table. 6. Draw a line down the center of the table lengthwise. Both sides, starting with the attacking side, alternate deploying their Frontline Platoons within 6¡¨ of the center line on their own half of the table. All the Frontline Platoons start in Hasty Defenses. ¡³ Hasty Defenses count as trenches for all game play rules but if any teams in the hasty defenses are hit by a bombardment there is a chance that the trenches will be destroyed. The shooting player makes a separate firepower roll for the hasty defenses and if successful the portion of trenches underneath the template are destroyed and removed from the game. 6. Both sides, starting with the attacker, alternate placing platoons in their own half of the table. The platoons may not be placed within 12¡¨ of the center line of the table. 7. Both sides, starting with the attackers, now alternate placing their Independent Teams in their deployment areas. Attacker's Deployment Zone Defender's Deployment Zone 6¡¨ Center Line Defender's Frontline Troops Attacker's Frontline Troops 12¡¨ 12¡¨ 6¡¨ Difference of companies Stratagem Defending players receive (Effects are cumulative) 1 Defender players receive 45 points of Fortifications for each 6' table being used. 2 Defender players receive 45 points of Fortifications for each 6' table being used. 3 Each Defending player may ambush one platoon 4 Each Defending player may ignore the first destroyed platoon for purposes of company morale checks. 5 or more Each Attacking player must randomly place one platoon per company in reserve
BEGINNING THE BATTLE 1. This mission uses the Mobile Battle special rule 2. Starting with the attacking players, both sides make Reconnaissance Deployment moves for any Recce Platoons they have on the table. 3. The attacking players have the first turn.
ENDING THE BATTLE The battle ends when either: Ć When the game master calls time or assigned time limit ends, or Ć when one side capitulates.
DECIDING WHO WON The side who scores the most victory points will win the scenario. Calculate victory points by using the following chart: Ć 1 Victory Point for each enemy platoon destroyed during the shooting phase Ć 2 Victory Points for each enemy platoon destroyed during the assault phase Ć 2 Victory Points for destroying the higher command team regardless of method. Ć 3 Victory Points for each friendly combat platoon in which every remaining team in the platoon is within the enemies deployment zone.
ARMY BUILDING REQUIREMENTS 1. All players must bring a mechanized or infantry company worth no more than 2000 points. 2. Players may only have one tank platoon per company. A tank platoon is defined as such if the majority of a platoon's teams are rated as tank teams. 3. Each player should be prepared to use the Fortifications rules located in the hardback rulebook.

I am game for the the massacre big game after a few rounds of doing assaults at fortifications so we know the rules and maybe some town games where we actually learn how to use and do ambushes in games that have company size units.
and i think we should continue discussing doing campaigns, how they work as compared to tournaments, how often do we do them, and will there be fees and prizes associated with winning, and or points gained.

If you want to learn more about assaults in FOW you should look at this section on their forum. The person who wrote it has made a very concise guide on how to how do assaults. It can be downloaded in PDF format too www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=126&aff=3&aft=60326&afv=topic

I would just need some infantry (or borrow some at least. Thanks Temis

Thanks Temis [/quote] You can also use American Infintry they look very similar in 15mm , even when painted, the only real problem is that a Russian Infantry Plt (Company) is almost double the size of an American one. but I can certainly lend you some Russian Teams

lets not stray too far from the subject hear... can you get us back on track "original" steve? Right now the subject is do people want to do some sort of mga Fow Battle/series of battles/ Campaign in 2011?. Vintage Steve asked for opinions and thoughts. So far no one has really said anything about what they want. I think that Berlin idea sounds great but there is so much to work out. Some factors were mentioned in the first posts but this is just the tip of the Iceberg. For example we would generate 4+ battle per turn when would we fight them out, on Friday nights ?, but what happens if we run out of time, Use the fair fight victory points or what. I think the best idea might be at first to try one of the two Firestorm games. More of us own Bagration but Market Garden is a better fit for the armies we have (new Steve you could proxy your force as British). This would also be something that could be started quickly since all the rules Are done. Also if everyone likes the system it could be used as a basis On to Berlin.
