Well the season finale just landed, and now we begin the long wait until Season 2. What are everyone's post-mortem thoughts on the series so far?

As much as I love the concept, and in general like the show, I think it feels like they are dragging it out much more then needed

I'm pretty shocked to see an adaptation that not only doesn't stay close to the source material, but just completely throws it out the window and does something completely different with the same characters. I still don't know how I feel about it.
If they wanted to make a zombie tv show that has nothing to do with the comic The Walking Dead, why didnt they just call it something else?

Having never read any of The Walking Dead comics, I was not biased by any expectations about the show but I fully understand how that works (lets talk about how the Lord of the Rings films compare to those books!)
For two old farts, my wife and I really enjoyed the first six episodes. Along about Episode 3 we did start to feel that they were dragging things out but the last couple of episodes picked up the pace.
So, what was the wispered message at the end of the finale?

My wife and I really enjoyed the series. We did not read the graphic novels either so we had no expectations. I think they were dragging things out a bit.
What happened to Merl anyways? Did I miss something? I suppose we will find out! We are looking forward to the next season.

Well maybe not the second part, but Jenner did blood tests on all of them and I'm guessing that's the case.
