Skaven Warpfire Thrower and BS skill

I've looked through the rulebook and didn't see any mention of a crew's BS skill having an effect on the warpfire thrower. Am I missing anything? Is the skill of the crew useless? I was expecting something like the BS skill being added/subtracted to the dice roll.

Chuck pointed out that the mortar team uses their BS skill during indirect fire to reduce scatter after a direct hit.

The Crew's BS has nothing to do with the WFT. It is a useless stat IHO. There are alot of things with a BS that can't shoot... Chaos Warriors for example. Hope this helps!

Thanks. Just checking. I can understand it being useless with an infantry unit... but these guys shoot and it doesn't count.
