With the Obsidian Championship just around the corner, we held our regular monthly tournament at Triple Play under the same rules that the Feeding Hills event will be contested under. With eight players taking part, we ran four rounds of Swiss and cut to a top two. Here are the standings after Swiss:
1st Mark Armitage (Shattered Peaks Castle Crab) 4-0 2nd Geoff Prugh (Fields of the Dead Spider) 3-1 3rd Chris Medico (Seven Seas Port Mantis) 2-2 4th Brad Blitstein (Palace of Crimson Shadows Scorpion) 2-2 5th Shelby Armitage (City of Tears Phoenix) 2-2 6th Gary Farr (Central Castle Lion) 1-3 7th Chris Root (Fields of the Dead Spider) 1-3 8th Tony Vandenburg (Shattered Peaks Castle Crab) 1-3
Geoff's only loss during the Swiss was a game that went to time against the Crab deck I was playing, which he lost on a dice roll. In the final, the Spider avenged their earlier loss and made their numerical advantage pay early, soaking up early attacks then overwhelming the Crab. First and second split $40 worth of store credit, and everyone left with at least three promo cards, including recent organized play promotional cards and GenCon promos.
The date for the November tournament will be announced shortly, and don't forget the Winner's Choice tournament at CarnageCon on Saturday November 6th.
