Just wondering how everybody did yesterday. I went to gamers grotto with some guys from rutland. Only 4 of us showed up but there are more guys going to WFB from 40K but no one really has 3k. It is a pretty nice store with an invoved owner. TP has more stock though on the wall. There was some guy always telling me how broken 40k daemons are and that he has really tone down his list so people will play him. Made me chuckle.
I took my warriors of chaos with lore of shadow. MVP goes to throgg! He killed alot of elves and lizzies!
My games: Game 1 Versus Skaven. His list was a plague list. The catapults and furnace were very effective against my armor. The random deployment hurt me a bit and my chosen never really saw battle. He won with 1400 points to my 700 which means he doubled my vp making it a massacre. It was rough. I didnt take any points form this battle.
Game 2 versus Dark Elves. He was playing a balacned list but no dragon. The battle swung my way pretty quick. Pit of shading his hydras was a blow to him. He felt the fury of my Throgg. Killed alot of elves. I massacred him with 3 battle points.
Game 3 Versus Lizzies. He was playing the temple guard super unit. It was a very very tough list. He was crusihing me until he miscast-failed his cupped hands roll- I puppeted him into a cascade-and he failed to save his slann. Very lucky for me. Go lord Tzeeentch! He fell apart after that. I still only pulled a minor victory after that with 14 points.
i did get third so I plan going to the next one... maybe we can carpool those of you moving on!

5 people. Me, Chuck, Poofy, Devin, and Mark First game vs Chuck was pretty bloody. It was down to the wire of me needing to kill his stacked HQ units. Got the skink and stego, but the Slann was hanging in there with 6 Temple Guard. Draw Second game against Mark, again really bloody. I thought I was going to run away with this one no problem, but Dryads are tougher than I expected, and so mobile that I played chase the whole game. My Lvl 4 shaman blowing himself, the unit champ, and 5 goblins up in the second turn wasn't helpful. Thankfully Mark's Drycha did the same thing in his next magic phase . This game was dagnabbit close, but also a Draw. Third round was my turn for a BY, so I chilled out and waited for the results. 1st: Chris 2nd: Me 3rd: Devin 4th: Chuck (behind devin by ONE POINT!) 5th: Mark

My first game was against mark, I tabled him without losing a single unit. Dark riders spent most of the game playing with a unit of dryads until only one was left when it decided to preserve victory points and ran away. My dragon and corsairs kill a treeman, the dragon went on to kill the tree man ancient with the help of the cok. The hydras destroyed 2 units of dryads(on was drychas). A treeman charged my corsairs which was then charged by the dragon. In three turns my new assassin killed a unit of treekin by himself. Pritty much ended there.
Secound round I got the by so I went am got everyones lunch who wanted it.
Third round I played devin. Only the corsairs crossbowmen and dark riders deployed on the board. The rest came on my turn 1. Devins turn 2 saw him killing my dreadlord at the cost of his lvl4 death becoming a lvl2. The dragon both hydras and the cold one knights saved the ge for me by rampaging through his army.

First round I got the by.
2nd, I managed to leave 5 Saurus alive vs both lord and one of the hero Sorceresses, an untouched 20 man crossbowmen unit, and 7 of my original 10 Dark Riders. Only a 900 vp win, so Minor Victory.
Third round against Poofy things started off alright, but went tits up rather quick when my Bolt Throwers managed 2 hits between them over the two turns they had to shoot at the dragon before it started eating them.

Everyone cries about Pit of Shades, but need I remind you of the 28 night goblins you wiped with that Lore of Life Dwellers Below, Chuck (including the Big Boss). I really really really should have scrolled that doody.

Quiet, Tony. Dark Elves don't get access to the Lore of Life, so it's mediocre at best.

One thing that I took from this tournamet is about Char tests. If you have a character in a unit that unit uses the highest charactesticin the unit (pg 10). kinda makes char tests less powerful. good luck pitting my marauders with an exalted in there. War machines are the exception because it says so in the BRB. Sorry poofy that time I killed ur Hydra. I didnt know.

Umm no. Each model uses it's own characteristic. Somehow I don't believe it. But looking at the rule.... I guess you do use the highest. Well dagnabbit....

I'm wondering if the wording of the rule is meant JUST to clarify cavalry units. I don't see anything in the BRB FAQ about it. Also interesting is that magic items that boost characteristics affect tests, but magic WEAPONS do not.
