10 players gathered for the first constructed tournament at Triple Play in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. We played four rounds of Swiss, and here are the standings after the conclusion of the Swiss rounds:
T-1st Mark Armitage (Phoenix) 3-1 T-1st Gary Farr (Lion) 3-1 T-1st Dan Mills (Phoenix) T-4th Kevin Donegan (Unicorn) 2-2 T-4th Geoff Prugh (Crab) 2-2 6th Brad X (Unicorn) 2-2 7th Malcolm Latvala (Dragon) 2-2 8th Chris Medico (Mantis) 2-2 9th Rob Davison (Phoenix) 1-3 10th Shelby Armitage (Phoenix) 0-4
All three players on 3-1 had identical tiebreakers, as did the two players directly below them. As I was running the tournament, I dropped to leave a final of Gary versus Dan, a rematch of the last Swiss round. Gary repeated his victory from round four, and was crowned champion.
Everybody who took part received at least three promotional cards and five rare/Death at Koten cards. The top three also split $50 store credit, and Kevin was the highest player outside the top three playing in his first constructed tournament at Triple Play, which earned him a playset of Debt Collectors.
As a side note, all three Phoenix strongholds were in attendance, running honour, military and enlightenment!
The next casual L5R night at Triple Play will be held on Wednesday 28th July, and the next constructed tournament will be Saturday, August 14th.
Thanks, Mark
