Still a few slots left if you want to get in. Need one more German and two more British players. Where have all the British players gone? Bill??? Conrad??? Anyone???
(As I am writing this, the ad spam at the top of the page says: "Cairo Men Seeking Women". Maybe this is branching out in unforseen ways.....)

May 10th 2008 (er, um 1942) - Advance elements of the Afrika Korps (one German panzer company, one Italian tank company, and two panzer grenadier companies) cross the Egyptian border in a lightning strike attempt to sieze two neaby major British fuel dumps and to drive deep into the British rear.
Meanwhile, the British 8th army, reeling from its recent defeats, assembles a hodge podge (a powerful hodge podge as it turned out) of companies to stop the Axis. A Heavy Armored Company screens the front to delay the Axis advance. A South African infantry company protects the northern fuel dump. A British infantry company screens the rear area where a fierce sandstorm is raging and protects the second fuel dump. They await the arrival of further orders and a reinforcing Heavy Armored company.
The screening British Heavy Armored Company proves to be a tough nut to crack. Eight turns into the game there is still one of those 8 tanks alive on the table. This slows the German and Italian armor. The one spanzer grenadier companies out paces the tanks in an effor to turn the British southern flank. However, a lack of fuel and a lack of tank support force them from their vehicles and into foxholes.
The second panzer grenadier company arrives unexpectedly deep on the British desert flank after a long flanking maneuver.
Axis fire begins to take its toll on the british forces. The axis begin to prepare for their final assault towards the sourther fuel dump........
Just as, the cavalry arrives - or in this case another eight heavy Grant/Lee tanks - AND the sandstorm blows itself out so those heavy tanks can range in on the Axis forces.
The advance of the Axis spearhead is stopped short of any of its objectives.
Thus ends round one of Cairo Or Bust. Could it be Bust?? Stay tuned for the next installment - round two begins June 14th.
Thanks Mike, Tom, Jeff, Chris, Brad, Temis, and Chuck for participating.
