Sounds like people had fun on 09/09/09 with Formula D. This week we plan on bringing up Battlestar Galactica to give a try. If Robert wants to bring Small World as well that would be great. We will also bring other games... as usual. If you have a request or plan on bringing a game post here.....
See you all around 6pm on Wednesday.

I've just learned of your group and plan on attending Wednesday. If there is a crowd you can spot me because I'm 6'4", bald, and bearded.
How late do you stay? I have a 65 minute drive home and rise at 5:00 a.m.
I have a closet full of games but will restrain myself this time.
Question for the Carnage operators, who I assume are involved here. I've never attended and wonder are you getting any games from Essen? Do you have commercial distributors selling? I'm particularly interested in Gates of Loyang but I'm sure there will be other standouts at Essen that quickly become must haves.
Thanks,
Rick Scholes

Board game night starts between 5 and 6 and we usually play until about 10. There will be several options, but feel free to bring your favorites.

Hi Rick as one of the Carnage guys, we try every year to get some of the newest games from Essen, due to the time frame its often hard to get our hands on that years releases. If we can get Gates of Loyang we will, especially because its the third in the series of games after agricola and Le Havre which we have enjoyed greatly( we may run a con, but our always gamers first).
looking forward to meeting you tonight.

Hey Rick....it will be good to have you play tonight. I too am looking forward to the Gates of Loyang. If we can get a copy at Carnage, I will be running a slot or two. Somtimes it is tough as we come right on the heels of Essen. We have vendor room with many great retail game stores represented....(Including Triple Play)
Looking forward to meeting you tonight... I will be running slightly late this evening...but don't hold up the games for me.

Thanks for the game last night, everyone. I can't believe it took you humans 4 1/2 hours to get to Kobol, but you made it. I look forward to getting this (or better: the expansion!) to the table again when I get back from vacation (Oct 3rd)
As I only saw this thread today, I did not bring Small World (sorry for that) but I will definately bring it in the future!

I really enjoyed meeting you all last night and being the struggling human president.
Perhaps that role should be reserved for someone who has actually played the game before! The concept of lying about the rules and strategy during a board game is foreign to me so in the beginning I listened to the at that time secretly treacherous Admiral. [My college days, and nights, of Diplomacy are too far in the past to inform my gaming philosophy.]
Over all I had a lot of fun and was able to report back to my wife that she would enjoy the group, though perhaps not Battlestar Galactica.
I hope to become a regular 'though my travel time totals almost 2 1/2 hours so I probably can't justify a weekly addiction. I don't have a game list posted on BGG but own perhaps 50 of the top 500, including perhaps some to which you do not have access. I also have older games that are interesting. I'll be glad to bring games on Wednesday nights.
FYI: I most enjoy games that are won by superior spatial analysis and math, have little or no hidden information or luck, and have endless re-playability. Go is the archetype. Hive, some Carcassonne variants, Alhambra, and to some extent Rumis and Attika are representative in the current consciousness. My favorite is Strato Tactics which isn't even on BGG. It is a chess like, truly three dimensional game played with translucent pieces above a light table; the game that should have been on the bridge instead of Terrace.

P.S. The system clock is one hour off, unless you folks in New Hampshire have seceded from Daylight Savings Time.

The concept of lying about the rules and strategy during a board game is foreign to me so in the beginning I listened to the at that time secretly treacherous Admiral. Heyheyhey! I thought I gave pretty good advise, mostly. I especially liked the moment when I had two destination cards, and both had just about equally bad penalties, and one jumped 2 and the other jumped 3, and I picked the one that jumped 2 and made you all think it was the further jump. And then I had to yell at Chuck for discarding the other destination card face up (which would have revealed me as a cylon straight away) and still no one caught on that I was a Cylon. By your command!
