Is the damnedest thing...
I had managed to unload just about all of my GW gear short of the BFG, Space Hulk, the Elysians and their Navy support. I had the pictures taken for the rest, ready to go up onto ebay before I got distracted by other stuff, but they were forgotten.
A year later, I come to AT and call out one of my soldiers on being a nerd reading for a WoW book. In validating my own nerdiness, I come to find out that he's a 40K Guard Player and that not only is there a new edition, but a new awesome IG codex. I roll on down to Quarterstaff to take a look and exclaimed:
HOLY CHEESE BATMAN!!!
Well, perhaps it's not cheese, but for the IG it certainly looks that way compared to the previous two editions of the codex. All the forgeworld tanks I've ever used, sold, used, then sold again are in. Veterans are an unrestricted troops choice. And generally everything looks useful enough so that you can have an effective list with fluffy units. Most importantly, my Valks not only became codex, but with better armor and effectively 50 points cheaper. And for 30 points more, I can get a Valkyrie with more firepower than a Land Raider?
Am I way off base here?
Looking through the new 5th Ed BBB, is it just me, or did things become, if not more streamlined, then at least a little more clarified with mostly positive changes?
So yeah, me and the Elysians (without the demo/plasma death) should be back in August. I'll be curious to see how the store metagame has changed.
The moral of this story? Procrastination pays! I'm not starting from scratch this time.
