We were discussing this early in the evening yesterday... I thought I had seen a Panzer IV with a Panther gun (AT14). Steve was correct, It's a Panzer IV(70) slow moving assault tank with a hull mounted Pak42. Platoons cost 405 for three of the A version (540 for four). The V version has 1 better front armor and costs 450 for three (600 for four). I don't know... - 3 AT11 Stugs for 285
or
- 3 AT14 Panzer IV(70) for 405
or
- 3 AT14 Panther G for 560
BTW, they are in the "Feldherrnhalle Armoured Battlegroup" in Grey Wolf. Jeff

I would recommend trying the 3 AT14 Panzer IV(70) for 405 points for a smaller skirmish. It would at least give you a chance to try out some new armor, and figure out whay you'd like to run for a permanent armor fixture in future games.

The poor man's Panther, at least offensively. 120 points extra for three of them vs. 3 Stugs. That the the cost of skipping many of the armor saves and going directly from a hit to a firepower check. For about the same cost you could get your three Stugs and a couple of PaK 40s.

They're also considerably up-armored from the PZIV and Stug. The 70(V) actually approaches the Panther armor for considerably less points. Of course you are slow, overloaded and hull mounted with worse side side armor, but remaining offensively the same and defensively almost the same for less points is a pretty sweet deal if you can handle the negatives.
