Oh No Mr., Bill, Will I was not expecting something like that, L0L. The problem with large template is that to many armys can now use them. V'Steve has enough Katyusha's to use it. And whats even worse from the German point of view the American's can now buy The Calliope, the Devil's Charge p.54. For 160 points the Americans can buy 4 of them which count as 16 guns. The problem is that if people start fireing those size platoons is that after you fire them, and reroll your misses and the defender rolls his save, and you roll your Fire powers we will eat up a lot of time and end up with little time for Infantry fighting. As for Wayne's mortar half tracks counting as tanks this is how BF calls it, not me, The Americans are in the same boat with their mortar half tracks. Temis If we get in the habit of playing faster. The time would be no problem. What is the biggest killer is always going to the rule book. If you bring a company. Study the rules on all the units in the company to get a better knowledge of the rules. Since I played Steve. I have been in the rule book studying and researching in the forum. I have subscribed to the Rules questions forum so I can keep up to date on other players questions and the answers. I had to look up Steve's Tank Destroyer rules and tactics in dealing with them. I was thankful he had only two of them. I should have assaulted them when I had a chance. Then again my flak36 platoon took them out. Will

I am confident that you knew the rules pretty well the first time I saw you use the Maultier, yet resolving their attack took a good 20 to 40 minutes, It involves to many die rolls and to much record keeping. I would guess that if we had three players using them we could easily burn an hour a turn just resolving their attacks. People without them would spend a lot of time just watching dice roll Oh yes they too count as a Tank unit

Temis, on the defence of those dice rolls, they can get pretty intense! What I am looking for at the moment is a date time group for the event and how many points. I will got to the rules from there. I am def not available: Jan 11-13 Feb 8-10 Feb 17 and thank you for pointing out the brand new book. I think I may be getting myself a new christmas present also 1750 sounds good.

Feb 16th would work best for me, any other date I might be able to make but would take some planning.
Start as early as possible?
I have a 1750 LW German company.

1750 points is fine with me for points as is the 16th of February if that what we stick with. One rule I personally don't like is Across the Volga. People use it to stack arty and fire it without any repercussions. Also, some people game it by using arty they do not own or amounts they do not own. I know that both sides may do so, but I feel it's just not the spirit of the game. By having arty on the table, it forces the players to take responsibility for it and defend it accordingly. However, if we do use the rule, I would suggest that the players have the models there. If someone fields 12 bases of arty, they should be able to show it.

I have reserved Saturday the 16th for the game, If there are a large number of you who can not make it speak quickly and tell me so we can figure out another date. I on the other hand like Fire across the Volga: It cuts down on the congestion on the table. If a player spreads out his guns properly counter battery fire is of limited use anyway. As for using hordes of guns that people don't own, I have banned the use of the super large Template. There is no point in having more than 8 guns in a unit(or 4 with extra Crew for those that can use extra crew) anyway, if you do they will fire as a maximum of 8. If you want you can put your guns on the table, so they can be used as direct fire weapon(if you start them off the table they must stay there). Some of us have problems with our Artillery being mounted on Vehicles, like N'Steve's Priest's and my American Long Toms, and thus counting as our one tank unit. We don't have gun models that are not SP so would have to proxy them anyway. Temis

I have some Arty in my list but will be using it "on-table" and not using the "across the Volga" special rule.

I plan on being there. My grandson's birthday is Feb 14th so I will lobby for it not being celebrated on Feb 16th instead!!
I can bring Soviets or Germans depending upon the mix of forces.

Saturday the 16th was my first choice! I should have no problems making this game I will begin preparing my list accordingly. I am very much enjoying the lists in the new book so I think this should be fun I hope to see you all soon! Also, how early can we start? As mentioned above I think the earlier we can start the better.

So.... Feb 16th is the day for this? 1750 points? What units are allowed? Obviously, Infantry.... but HMG? Half Tracks? Any vehicles not a tank? Planes? Mortars? Land Raiders? Jet Bikes? Dreadnoughts?
I'm not sure if I can make it just yet... it is the first weekend after Valentines Day after all. I'll start moping about the house now. Maybe she'll be begging me to play in a couple of weeks. ;-)
