Hi all! This is a post to announce October's 40k event - a combat patrol tournament!
For those of you not familiar with combat patrol, it was a system introduced in 4th edition to allow players to have smaller games, representing the clash of two small detachments This meant that restrictions would be put on what could or could not be taken to A) prevent things that wouldn't be in scouting patrols from showing up and B) prevent super powerful things from taking over.
Army Composition:
I've lifted the following rules from Adepticon's combat patrol event for this year.
Armies will consist of 600 points or less, and must conform to the following Force Organization restrictions:
⇒ 0-1 HQ
⇒ 1-3 Troops (you MUST bring at least one Troop choice)
⇒ 0-1 Elite
⇒ 0-1 Fast Attack
⇒ 0-1 Heavy Support
⇒0-1 "Swing" slot that can be used to get an additional fast attack, heavy support or elite choice.
• Armies are not required to take mandatory unit choices. All other unit restrictions (i.e. 0-1, must take x unit to take y unit) apply.
• You may spend remaining points on units from anywhere in the Codex.
• No Special/Unique/Named Characters are allowed
• With the exception of Troops and models with the Swarm Universal Special Rule, No model can have more than 2 Wounds.
• Psykers may only attempt ONE psychic power (or activate a force weapon) per game turn.
• Aside from Troops choices and dedicated Transports, only vehicles with a maximum of 11 in any armor facing may be taken.
Dedicated transports and troops may have a maximum armor facing of 12 (though IA11 Corsairs may NOT take Falcons as dedicated transports for combat patrol). Vehicle Squadrons and Artillery units are
permitted provided every unit within the unit individually would be permitted. Vehicle upgrades that increase an armor
facing may only raise the armor value to a maximum of 12 (this includes Necron Quantum Shielding).
• Flyers may not be used.
• Allies may NOT be used.
• Fortifications may be used, so long as they meet the requirements for vehicles (so no bastions, fortresses of redemption (or solitude), etc.)
Tournament Format:
5 Rounds, with rounds lasting an hour each.
Scenario format will be somewhat different, with a halloween theme. That's all the info you're getting for now.
$10 entry fee, and first and second receive store credit.
Fully painted would be nice, especially given the decreased model count as this point value. But I'm not going to enforce a painted model rule. Please do make an effort, as it will be worth your while. There is after all the...
Favorite ARMY Competition - that's right, at this point I think it reasonable for people to evaluate the paint jobs on an entire force. It will work like the favorite model/unit competition from last time, with everyone able to vote on their favorites. The winner of this vote will receive a prize. Note that only FULLY painted armies will be eligible for this prize.
