Last week a number of games got played. Rex downstairs, Serenissima, Zong Shi, Eruption and BSG Express upstairs. Good night for gaming. This coming Wednesday... I was thinking of reading the rules for Storm of Swords. Mike got me thinking we should give this variation a try. It is the second expansion to Game of Thrones 1st edition. It is a four player game involving the Lannisters, Starks, Baratheon and Greyjoy battling over Kings Landing and the Riverlands. If a few people are interested....speak up. I will bring Kingsburg again, along a few other games. Any requests? Rod

BSG Express was a print and play game that Matt brought in. It is basically Battlestar with condensed rules. No cards, you roll dice to defeat crisis. There are still Cylons! It took us about an hour to play. (That included learning the rules.) Not a bad game. We had fun.

Okay I have Storm of Swords with me... it plays the same as the original board game. There are a few differences. Like I said above only four houses Lannister, Stark, Greyjoy and Baratheon. They add in ally cards of three minor houses (Frey, Tyrel, Arryn) and the free swords (mercenaries). There are leaders in the game, that can be activated and also captured so you can hold them ransom or lop off their heads if you so choose! There are aslo tactics cards that depending on which tactic card you choose on your turn will give you added benefits. No ships or ship combat. (Smaller board with implied ship crossings) And there is a slightly modified victory conditions. You need to have "claim" over Westeros. Each city or stronghold gives you some claim, but there are other ways to get claim.
Other than that it is the same mechanics. Secret orders, three tracks: Iron Throne, Valayarian Steel and Kings Court. House cards for battle. Wildling attacks.....etc....
Shoud be fun. We have space for two more. Sean and I are in....if people like it I can certainly bring it again. Maybe Mike will bring his copy he would like to sell and we can get two games going!
see everyone tonight, Rod
