Hi gents it's me again. I've a question for y'all. What do you think of low fantasy games for warhammer? I ask this for a few reasons. I've heard (from more than a different sources) that the intrest in WH died off because of the switch to focuse on magic and monsters of a high fantasy verity. At the same time I discovered a White Dwarf artical on how to play games of WH with out all the magic and monsters.
The artcal gave conditions for playing a low fantasy game. This included a section on how to select unit choices for games (Every fraction is included) and a section on determing restrictions on the games (As in no magic, monsters or lowering how much your lord and heroes can spend).
I want your opinion's on this idea. I can additional clarifaction but I don't have the WD on me at this time since I loaned it to a friend so at best i can offer some points and a general idea about what is allowed in these types of games.

My problems with 8th edition are not the monsters, but some of the fundamental changes, i still play the game but recognize that its shifted from being a wargame to more of a game. The biggest "realism" ( and understand that warhammer fantasy had been the basis for historical miniatures games from warhammer ancients battles up to English civil war) remover was making units far to reslient to flanking attacks. It bugs me and is a far bigger reducer in the value of movement than anything else. Nolonger is breaking your opponents line the near game winner it should be.
But i really would like to play some Fantasy, because its still a fun game just not as deep a game anymore.

Hmm... know if I can suggest a house rule then? It might add a bit more tactical thinking and randomness to the game.
