Our learning curve for V3 continues this Friday. Bring 1500 point lists and lets see how many rules changes we can crab about.

I plan on being there on Friday. I need to find some motorcycle scouts before I show up. They save on a 3 instead of a 5. I have included them in my list this week.

Friday night suggestion,

I am a big fan of putting two tables together and players coming on the board at random points. We all tend to bring different list. The space we need to play is limited. How about we place the tables together long wise and set up my buildings in the middle with objectives spread about the city.

I liked that we all where playing the same table and our different list seemed to work out. Mike was the hero of the battle. When the odds where against him due to his force being on the opposite side of the battlefield. Mike held the line in heroic fashion.

I would like to see us playing with two tables together and the one on one that we had played in the past, put on hold.

I think this way, Infantry transports will play a major factor in our games and maybe generate some sales for the store to get your infantry some trucks to get to the battle.

This will also declare the sides before we get to the store and sides will build there list based on who will be at the store. If there are 3 axis players and only Two allies. The allies will have to bring a third company.

I think our dinner break was to long. We need to be fighting more and eating less. What say you?

I also like the fact that every company came on the battlefield full strength and it was kill or be killed. The times I have played at the store trying to roll for reserves to save the day made it a boring night at the store.

The hope of playing a game based on the dice bringing reserves after turn 3 and if the dice are against you that night. It was a night better spent with the girlfriend. I have choose to play with the girlfriend in the past to chance my luck with the dice. Its more exciting to play with the girlfriend. I am still a young man.

I think lets play two tables together. Lets agree on some objectives and bring all company's on the table to do some battle. I do not mean to step on some toes.

I was a kid with 3000 green plastic army guys doing weekend battle on a dug out ditch pile of dirt that was the battlefield. We participated with every guy we could muster.

I think if we play with this kind of play on Friday nights. We can increase our numbers. We can always dedicate another night to FOW scenarios play.

I think we need to change how we play on friday night to attract new players. We need to limit our battle tables to two tables together. Every body plays on the same table and new players can slowly build a force to rival most of us veteran players.

The start up cost and the learning curve can be great with a one on one match up. I propose we do these two table match ups and promote new players to afford a lower cost start up. If some body could afford a platoon of tanks. I say let them play. Then next paycheck they could buy more from the store to complete a company.

The last time I checked. You guys have gained allot of grey hair. I have gained none. We need to recruit some younger members. If guys can bring there entire company on the battlefield at turn one. I think we will see our numbers increase on Friday nights. I would show up more.

I will be truthful. The times to know I am going to lose for two hours based on bad luck dice. It was hard to play the next week. If we had a new player that was interested in joining our group to see a night where high dollar investment of dollars sit off the table and no entertainment value recouped.

They will not be back to the store. There has to be a change how we play on Friday nights. If a person comes in the store and buys a platoon of panzer 4 tanks and wants to play them because its what they can afford. We should include them in the battle on friday nights. Then as they play at our group table learning the rules. They will increase there force.

I say ditch the one on one play and lets play group tables on Friday night. Then do one on one match ups on another night.

The 2012 year should be group play with veterans to learn the game and increase our numbers with limited start up cost. The new player has to be able to field a platoon to play at our table.

Will first of all good news for you and anyone else who can't roll the dice well for reserves. In V3 on any turn that you roll at least 3 dice for reserves you will always get at least a single unit p268

New players of any age has always been a problem , We get new players but they seem to vanish as quickly as they start up.


We have always let new players with limited forces play there was a kid of about 11 or 12 who showed up for a few weeks maybe 2 years ago he had 5 JS2 and that was it, we let him play , then he vanished(I think his mother didn't approve of wargames)
We have provided forces for those who don't have any(when I first played a few years ago I used some of Steve's forces).

IMO a better way to learn the game is a one on one battle even if we have to provide all or most of the troops for the newbe to use. Playing one platoon in a giant game can be kind of a drag, its confusing and if you platoon is destroyed you may sit there and have nothing to do.

A sure way to get more players is drop down to midwar Chuck Davis would probably start playing with us(Chuck will not play LW) and I might be able to talk Dr Mike into playing too

Well, we are a diverse group with differing gaming preferences. One on one games, group games, large point games, small point games, Late War, Mid War, Early War, armor, infantry, lots of terrain, lots of open space, campaign games, tournaments, the list goes on.

I think we are too small of a group to focus on only one set of preferences. I think we need to try to provide enough of an assortment of gaming opportunities so that we hit all of our preferences eventually. I think we all have some level of tolerance for gaming outside of our preference as long as that does not happen constantly. There are times when it is appropriate for us to skip certain events as well.

So, my vote is for providing a "mixed bag" of gaming experiences.

One hurdle is that doing so I think requires some planning and leadership. We need to avoid the "OK, we're here what do we do?" approach each week. That leads to the same old same old.

So, how do we plan? Each of us take a turn at organizing our Fridays? Probably should not switch off each week. Each of us take a time period? Start with a month?

Will - Why don't you organize us for this week and next? I think it will be you, me, Temis, Jeremy and possibly New Steve. Mike is away this week and next.
