There was either 28 or 26 people I believe, someone said that ours was suppers too have been the busiest outpf the 3 finals locations. Of those, there was 9 (yes, Nine!) IG players, all playing nearly identical lists. 5 Grey Knights played (including yours truly) the rest having only 1 or 2. Looked alot too me like people were anticipating Grey Knights, and tooled for it.

I cant offer proper battle reports, but I'll include a brief synopsis of my games:

Round 1
Mission: Find the loot (5 counters)

My opponent: Saim hann Eldar
List:
Farseer (on jetbike, warding, witnessing, guid, spear)
4x10 Dire Avenger (exarch, bladestorm)
4x wave serpent (missile launchers, cannon upgrade)
3x3 Vypers (2x star cannon, 1x brightlance, all with cannon upgrade)
2x Fire prisim
Falcon (star cannon)
6x fire dragons (exarch, fire pike, tank hunter)

I won the role for first turn and he failed too seize.

The match was a whole lot of shooting, I moved both paladin squads too reveal objectives and my Vindicare had infiltrated onto the other. With one paladin squad I camped the center objective. It turned out there was one worth 2 and another worth 1. The other two objectives were nothing. We made itthrough 4 turns, my opponent managed too kill two paladins and Brother Jacen. I managed too kill all but two Vypers, 1 wave serpent, the falcon, a squad of Dire avengers, his farseer, and the squad of fire dragons. His turn 4, knowing it was the end of the game he turbo posted the farseer too contest the center (barely within the 3) the two Vypers too contest the 1 point object my Vindicare was holding, and the wave serpent tank shocked my paladins (despite Brother Dvorns best efforts at death or glory, his penetrating hit ended with a weapon destroyed/crew shaken).

Round 2

Opponent: IG

Mission: table quarters

List:
I don't remember exacts, but roughly

3x Plasma predators
2x hydra flak guns
6x chimera
6x12 veterans half melts half plasma
3x Vendeta/Valkyries (3 las cannons)
Tank with same cannon as demolisher

Commander with retinue (5 plasma)

He won the roll and chose to go first, then scouted his little birdies into my flanks. I deployed into terrain. Then made him cry by seizing the initiative, and killing two of the three, and stunning the third. As well as dropping a chimera, and killing half the guys inside. 4 turns latter saw me down 6 paladins from dragos squad, an immobilized Storm raven, Bother Jacen locked in CC with his only surviving scoring unit, and a whole lot of dead IG and their tanks.

Result: Massacre, I held 3 quarter and he held none (it was contested by the Mighty Jacen, who stood 3 turns of melts bombs in cc) and all 4 bonus points.


Round 3

Mission: kill points (yeah baby!) Dawn of war

Opponent: IG (almost identical list only sub in leman Russ squad instead of trash can of doom, 2 valkyries, and Al Rahiem added)

He won the roll for first turn, and elected too give me first turn.
He deployed nothing, I deployed at the centerline with both squads of paladins in ruins. He comes on and it seems that te dice gods loved me, as he went down his line and failed too spot me with every search light except the last one. He managed too stun the storm raven. As I'm sure many of you can imagine, from here it was a bloodbath... Lots of dead IG. I kept the squads in the cover with Librarian Stern shrouding them. His outflanking made no difference, go figure, and I didn't give him and inch of breathing room.

Result: Massacre (I managed too get 12 kill points, he managed too get 2. Poor brother Jacen and Brother Steve) with 2 bonus points


In the end the top finishers:

1st place: IG (identical list too the guy I played round 2)

2nd place: Grey Knights (yes me)

3rd place: Deathwing


Next stop: Throne of Skulls GT, Las Vegas?
