Mike (new Mike that is), I took your recommendation and did some research into Disposable Heroes (i.e. Disposable Heroes and Coffin for Seven Brothers from http://www.ironivangames.com) and it looks pretty interesting. I do like the alternating activation. I think that is a great counter to leafblower type armies. I went ahead and ordered the rulebook and the American source book (Blood and Guts). I hope to have it within the week.
I did some research into miniatures. The 1/72 scale looks pretty popular and inexpensive.
$15.99 for 2 Shermans (http://www.michtoy.com/item-ARF-99001-Sherman_M4_Medium_Tank.html) and $11.99 for 37 Soldiers (http://www.michtoy.com/item-CMF-054-World_War_II_US_Army.html)
Tony or Jeremy, Do any of your suppliers carry 1/72 scale?
Does anyone from the "TriplePlay Gang" have 1/72 scale WWII miniatures? If so, what rules do you use?

1/72nd is a good scale in some ways. Look at Plasticsoldierreview.com for some examples. There is a bit more in the ways of 28mm terrain and new WW II releases from Bolt Action/Warlord and Crusader are priced well too.
I like metal in this scale because you're putting only a few squads and few (if any) vehicles on the board. For vehicle-heavy games I agree that 1/72 is pretty awesome and the pricing is much better.

Jeff Jeff I have a lot of(\ 20mm / 1/72 (they work out to being the same size) Vietnam, contemporary American, some contemporary bad guys and a great deal WWII mostly early war French and German but a Polly glut of other fronts and time periods as well. I never found a rule set that I really liked except one called Brew up WrG (which vanished on me and I can not find it} but I have bunch of other rules and since I never had anyone to play with I have not bothered to really checked a lot of them out. I will take a look at dispos Heros Temis

i would just go with 15mm instead, since many of us have many figs that can be used, and getting into a scale that is just marginally different is not worth the investment.

Something fun we could do is just play a few games of DH with our already-existing armies. I could do a demo in 28mm and it sounds like Temis has 1/72. If there's an interest then pick a Wed or Fri and y'all could try the game and decide.

IMHO or maybe IMO I think that 15mm for a skirmish game looks kind of weird . A bunch of little figures on a really big table, also you can end up buying a lot more figures than you really need. It is true that they are only marginally bigger than 15mm but on the other hand they are only marginally smaller than 25/28mm and the price is a lot better than their bigger cousins and not that much more than then the little guys.

I bet Triple Play could order it. Otherwise I'd try thewarstore or Warweb but I'm not sure that would be faster than getting it thru the store here.
For minis- Check out Artizan, Crusader, Bolt Action/Warlord, and West Wind. For terrain- JR Miniatures, Miniature Building Authority, Pegasis terrain, Acheson Creations. Vehicles- Brigade Miniatures has many lines, but 1/48 Tamiyas work pretty well as do Corgis.
Ironically, a lot of GW 40K stuff is useful for terrain too.

Thank you for the Plasticsoldierreview.com link. I really like the ratings they have for each model set and the closeup pictures. I had NOOO idea there were so many WWII miniature manufacturers. Heck, I'm amazed at the non-WWII miniatures. Gold Diggers? Really? I don't know what game system they are meant for but it doesn't sound like fun. The prices look so cheap, I think I can get enough models for an army for less than a box of 5 40K Terminators. 50+ troops, a few tanks, and maybe some artillery looks like it's less than $50. It's also cheap enough that I would impulse buy a box here and there. Warhammer takes more fiscal planning and possible mortgage approval (not that I plan on stopping that though). If Triple Play can't get Disposable Heroes, FRP games has it for $14.39... www.frpgames.com/cart.php?m=product_list&c=1860It's nice to see there may be some other interested players. I'll bring in the books the next Wednesday Boardgame night I can make. Jeff

My copies came in the mail today (Disposable Heroes & Blood and Guts) and I started reading the first part about moving, firing, and cover. It's hard to absorb so many rules, but so far I like what I read.
Tony or Jeremy, Are you able to order Caesar miniature sets H054 & H071 (the two American Infantry sets)? What about the Armourfast M4 Sherman tank?
I think I should be able to make a command squad, two rifle squads, a sniper, a heavy mortar team, and a heavy machine gun team with the models from the two sets. With two tanks (158 points per tank) I'm guessing I'd be around the 800-1000 point level.

Jeff It maybe that Tony or Jeremy read all the posts on the Forum but they may not, you might want to consider another way of getting hold of them to see if they can order your stuff Temis ;D

I'm planning on bringing everything needed for two people to play a small point game (Book, Dice, Markers, Measuring Tape, etc). I'm currently in the process of re-basing around 100 troops onto 20mm round bases. I ordered two boxes of Caesar Miniatures 1/72 scale Americans and one German from Hobby Bunker. I should have about 60-70 Americans and 40 German troops. No armour yet though.
