With so many people having great armies and lots of time put into them, I know there are some who have created large backgrounds for them. So here's the place to jot it all down, and let the community know!

The 7th H'garian Regiment
H'gara was colonized ages ago, before the Horus Heresy. A lush fertile planet, it was perfect for crops. It had a generous amount of ore and minerals, and oceans teaming with life. With a single body orbiting around H'gara, An'gel, it was essentially Terra's twin, just billions of light years away. The only large difference was the solar systems they inhabited. While Terra's had multiple planets. H'gara was a single planet orbiting around Kal'vesh, it's star.
The colonists thought they had found paradise, and for a long time it was. Cities grew, and soon H'gara teemed with human life. Then, with no explanation, observers from Terra and all other parts of the known galaxy noticed Kal'vesh was gone from the heavens. The star just disappeared. Soon after, the Heresy began, and the loss of a colony and its star were soon forgotten. As it was, H'gara did not disappear. Well, it was not destroyed would be a better way of putting it. It along with it star were blocked from the normal flow of time and space. An eddy in the current of the warp caused Kal'vesh and its lone orbiting body to freeze in time. While the wars and bloodshed of the galaxy unfolded, no more then a few months passed to the H'garians.
As could be expected, when the warp brought H'gara back to it's rightful place among the stars, it was a shock indeed to both H'gara and Terra. Terra finding a planet long thought lost (though sadly, as a colony, not fielding nor owning vast STC templates), and H'gara being told their beloved Emperor dead and years upon years have passed.
Never the less, H'gara was ready to fight for mankind. So soon started raising Regiments to fight for Humanity. Feeling they had missed out on fighting in the previous wars they are determined to make up for it. Fighting any enemy they are sent against with vigor and righteous fury. H'garians, having missed the dark ages, are quite tolerant of technology. Grav-chutes are commonly used, although not their specialty. Chimera's and other vehicles are viewed the same way. Used, but not specialized.
Knowing that nothing trains like combat, recruits are given 2 months instruction before being assigned. Once assigned, they are organized into Recruit Squads, normally lead by a Commissar to keep the fire of the emperor in their bellies. Whatever uniform the regiment is currently assigned, the Recruit Squads always have green helmets. The recruits only earn their regimental helmet or "colors" after no less then 3 battles as a recruit. Those that survive are bitter, hardened, and ready to eat their own guts. Each knows that the other has gone through hell to be by their side.
H'garian regiments also have a higher amount of veterans due to this training. Those who have earned their colors tend to continue to earn it. Soon they become even better shots and develop their own field-craft to getting better positions on the field of battle.
The 7th Regiment, "Dee's Devils", gained its moniker and most notoriety during the battle of Uritan Ridge. Where surrounded by orcs they continued to hold the communication bunker. What started as a skirmish, then escalated when second through sixth platoon were ordered to reinforce. Soon, even they were cut off. With the bulk of the 7th fighting to free their comrades, 2 squads of Space Marines from the Crimson Fist chapter dropped in and helped defend the beleaguered troops. Short of supplies, a breakthrough was needed. In a bold move, the remnants of skirmishing platoons charged forward into the guns and choppa's of the orcs. Brother Temonious was quoted as admiring their charge saying "the 7th fought the orcs like devils, as if possessed by the emperor himself." With the Marines holding the bunker, the 7th broke through and ended the siege. Keeping the bunker, orbiting strikes were able to be relayed, and in the end, the ridge was vital in keeping the orcs from moving.
To this day, the H'garians fight where ever they are needed. With pride, honor, and faith in the emperor and their brethren.

Finally get to hear about the H'Garians I've fought alongside (occasionally against) for so many years. Very cool. I'll have to write up some of my armies' backgrounds soon.
