So i was reading a battle report and someone did the move of infiltrating and completely blocking the opponents table edge.
they then said that even his vehicles couldn't tank shock on because in a tank shock the vehicle stops at the unit to resolve the tank shock, which means that the vehicle stops with part of it off the board and is destroyed.
I don't think it works this way, I was under the impression that the vehicle moves the full distance and you just have to pause to resolve any death or glories and if the DoG does not stop the vehicle it gets to move onto the board. i just wanted to make sure.
Working the way they said is just as dumb as saying the necrons auto phase out when they reserve their warriors.

I don't think anybody at TP would dare. I agree ross that it is stupidity.

Yeah that sounds like the way to go. Obviously even if you get stopped by the Death or Glory at ALL though (even a stunned result on a vehicle without extra armor), the vehicle is dead dead dead since it has to spend the next turn off the board.

yeah it was pitched battle KPs and one player decided to reserve everything for some reason, then the other player infiltrated enough nids to the other side of the board to block the entire edge.

Dude, link. I have to see the alpha-striking nid army that made the player go all-reserve.

That report was pretty funny though. If you read the responses it sounded like the nid player knew that the other guy could tank-shock through the units but didn't mention it. Normally, I'd be against such underhanded dealings, but it sounded like the guy was being pretty insufferable.

I believe if you tank shock on from reserves, you have to declare you're moving fast enough to get the whole model on the table. Then you resolve tank shocks against units as normal, but if a unit stops your tank before it is fully on the table then per the main rulebook errata it is destroyed. The very act of declaring a death or glory does not stop the tank unless it is successful.
