Everyone has a reason they got into 40k in the first place. For me, it was a website called batreps.com. They periodically featured battle reports by various armies in comprehensive format. The combination of back story, army lists, player commentary and the humor was one of the reasons I started playing 40k. The episodic nature of it was also cool as you got to know the players and their styles and quirks. You can sense what a good time they had just by reading the reports. I like video battle reports and forum or blog-posted reports, and maybe this is sentimentality talking, but I think they're just missing something. Since batreps.com went quiet, no one has really stepped into the void and offered battle reports of this quality of depth. I've recently come into possession of a decent digital camera and would like to try my hand at doing a battle report of this kind. The availability of free web hosting and my own limited HTML skills should remove the technical barrier. I just need to have a game. It could be any point value and any army and it doesn't even have to be me playing. The only caveat would be that all armies would have to be fully modeled and painted. If successful, I'd like to make it a regular thing. So the question is: who's in?

I would love to! My chaos or Nids are both painted. I am busy this weekend but next weekend would work if you have any availability. Just keep me posted. I would love to watch at the very least.
I think its a great idea and promotes our beloved hobby.

We should make our own blog with all of our batreps and post up links on all the sites.

I'm thinking an actual website. Google offers free web hosting. I've already signed up and am playing around with the layout. I'll post something back here when I know more.

Meh, I really don't like the blog layout for battle reports. It's too constrained and boring. Same with forums. A website with a good layout though... ;D
Give me some time, gents, and I'll have something I think you'll like.
EDIT: the more I think I about it, the more I think a blog might be a good front end, especially given the ability to post comments and whatnot. However, I think we'd want more complex pages for the actual reports.
Basically what I'm trying to avoid are batreps I've read on blogs (or that I have written on forums) that are one page and about 15 miles of scrolling long. Give someone that and most people will say "cool story bro!" and click away. Give them discrete turns, each on their own page and they'll keep reading to the end...
Plus, we have to be a special snowflake.

Check out the ones on batreps.com if you need guidance. Some of the guys talked more about themselves while others posted up their tactics and whatnot.

Am I doing it right?
