Is anyone at the store considering getting into this game? www.spartangames.co.uk/dystopian_wars.htmlI've been eying this for a while now. The mini's are quite simple to assemble and paint, most of them only having two or three parts, but the detail on them is quite good, and the sculpts are awesome (the Prussian blimp looks amazing) I checked these out at some store in SNH this weekend. Starter fleets are less than $50, A starter fleet + carrier + book + cards is less than $90, and that is all you ever need to play (although more models are coming, including awesome landships and tanks, so if you get into this you prob be buying more at some point) This seems to be getting really good reception and gaining traction (although longevity of mini games and mini companies seems never predictable), and if we have 4 (or more) people interested in starting a fleet, we might get Sean to order the line and pass on some savings, making it possibly even better in price (but no guarantees) |

What faction are you guys most drawn to? I am flip flopping between Brittania and Prussia. I really like the look of the giant land ships that will be coming out for Brittania. The only thing I do not like as much in the brittania line-up is the look of their carrier. The Prussian carrier (the zeppelin) is awesome, but I don't really like their land forces all that much (or their accents).

I would say that I lean towards the Prussia army and the Empire of the blazing sun.
The D6 Generation just had a podcast with a huge review of the whole game.

Right now, the 4 elements of a fleet are:
1. Starter fleet - MSRP 55
2. Book - MSRP 22
3. Carrier - MSRP 20
4. Cards - MSRP 10
These MSRPs are approximates. 1 you absolutely need to play. 2 you also pretty much need. 3 & 4 are somewhat optional. We are looking for 4 people that say outright yes to the game right now, which means Sean @ Triple Play gets sure sales, we can figure out what we want him to get for us and he can get us a good discount!
We have three firm commitments at this point: Pat (PKelly), Robert (RobertDD) and Chuck (hardihar). Will is on the fence, and Brad (Good Brad) and others have shown interest. This is promising.
The time to jump in is now! We are trying to get people to commit, and Sean will get us a nice price (I don't want to promise too much, but I am counting on a great discount off of MSRP) for early adopters.
Chuck is set on Brittania, and also likes FSA (=USA) Robert likes Brittania and Prussia, but with Chuck firmly set on taking Brittania that leaves Robert with Prussia. Pat is going between Prussia and Rising Sun, and with Robert taking Prussia that means Rising Sun? (question mark means: right??)
Of course there's no hard rules about picking multiples of the same faction, but personally I really want to see lots of variation on the table in my games.
So who commits to FSA (Federal States of America)? Will? Brad?
By the way, Chuck and I will commit to the full line. Pat?

You got it. Are you ordering the full line for Blazing Sun, Pat (1, 2, 3 and 4)? Sean is ordering Monday for stock on Wednessday. Chuck and myself are both ordering it all for our factions (which means you can definately get away with skipping the cards if you wanted to!)
We are still looking for a fourth to pick up the FSA too. If you get in with us then you will also profit from the great discount Sean is (hopefully) getting us early adopters.

OK, we are hitting a small bump in the road. The distributor is out of stock. Game is too popular for it's own good, looks like. I am hoping the delay won't be more than a week or so, and if it is I will start looking at alternatives.
I hope this doesn't change anybody's commitment, but if it does I need to know ASAP.
On the positive side, this also opens the door to new players (Will, Brad) to jump in at the last moment!
