Hey all,
40K has started to peak my interest again and until the Grey Knight codex comes out soon I was looking for something to keep me busy.
I have a bunch of marines painted up like Black Templars....but I like some of the units in the Space marine codex. My idea was to make 2 armies. What would people think if I used models that were painted like templars but were actually from the "Black Crusader" space marine chapter? That way I could have an army from the SM codex but if I wanted to play Templars I could just use models and characters specifically from the templar codex.
This way I don't have to buy/paint 2 completely different armies. Understanding I couldn't use models from both codex in the same army ie. no Vulkan He'stan and Marshall Helbrect in the same army.
Thoughts?

As long as everything is WYSIWYG, I don't see a problem with that. During one of my fits of madness (actually considering playing Space Marines...shudder), I came up with an army concept that would be able to use Space Wolves, Blood Angels, or vanilla Marines depending on which models I wanted to use that day.
Not everyone may agree, but Marines are generic enough... haha

I think Tony's master plan for generic marines = not painting the models. Wayne - I think that is a fantastic idea. IIRC, I actually think Ben's old deathwing and ravenwing armies were painted like Black Templar but counted as Dark Angels on the tabletop. Plus, based on what I've seen from you before, any models that you bring will put my own to shame regardless of what they count as
