Tomorrow night: Bring your 1750 allied army and your 1325 axis army. We were planning on doing Blue on Blue (being your team mates) training to get ready for our game at the end of the month.
but of course that all depends on who shows up ha ha.
So the short answer is yes, we are "training" trenches and fortifications.

Yes, bring either a 1750 point allied force or a 1325 point axis force. You may want to bring some blank pieces of paper as well - depending upon how many games we run we will run out of fortications very quickly. Mike (er, pinecoffin, that is) - Bring your fortifications box!
I have had a complication in my schedule for the day. We have been having some ice buildup on our roof. I had planned to take care of that tomorrow. However, having had to empty my entire closet this morning, I will be tackling that job as soon as the temperature rises a bit today. I still hope to make it to the store.

Mr Vintage Steve,
We shall patiently await your arrival. I hope that the sun gets some heat on that roof for you!
I should be hitting the store right about 6pm. I have several lists to try out so I am hoping to squeeze in two games right of the bat tonight so that I can try and work out the kinks. (though I know two games is a stretch, I have been told that a 1750 pt tourny has time limits of 1.5 hours per round so thats what I am "shooting" for).

I am going to go out on a limb and predict that you may be able to play one game in 3.5 hours, if lucky. But there is no way that you will play two. I have also played in few tournaments and the only one I ever saw that had 1.5 hour rounds was a 600 point tournament that I played at Carnage this year( and we could barely fit them in) ;D

We did pretty good this past friday considering that we started at 730pm ha ha). Cruised right along. Did we make it to turn 4?
I would say that this friday that we should push to start our deployment at 630pm so we can at least finish one game ha ha. And Depending on who shows up we can either play the same way that we did on friday or we can do One on One.
So to be ready, Try to be there by around 6 with (what ever you can of): 1750 Allied, 1325 Axis, or be ready to put together a smaller force for allied/axis based on who shows up.
At the moment the following should be there:
Old Steve-axis/allies Brad-Axis Will-Axis new steve-Allied Jeremy-Axis/Allied (but will also be working) Colby-? (he has axis/allies)
see you guys on friday!

Also, I remember reading something in the fortifications scenario is that you can chose to do the scenario with a reduced number of fortifications. Does anyone else remember that? If so do you think this maybe a good idea for us?
Personally I think The number of fortifications was fine, I just need to make better use of my force. I WILL NOT let the germans stand undefeated, hiding in there trenches.

We essentially had just the right amount for fortifications based on the Fortification rules. We were short one section of barbed wire and spent 56 of of 60 possible points for additional fortifications. So, we could have added one BW section and two 8 inch trench sections to what we had on the table.
We did have about 125 more points in Germans then we would have if we used the same percentage of forces we are using in the megabattle. Not much perhaps but that would have meant that the infantry guns would not have been on the table and they did do some damage.
We also played with German Reserves and not German Delayed Reserves which would have made a big difference too.
I would like to see how a second week plays out. I intend to get there early of Friday and set up two tables. With Temis and Mike not there and Colby usually working of Fridays, that would leave us with the two Steves, Jeremy, Will, and Brad. Since we only have enough entrenchments (amost) to cover one table I will bring those slips of paper to be used as the other table's entrenchments.
Hopefully we can get a fast start.
Jeremy and Will - bring 1325 lists of Germans and be ready to defend your entrenchments.
The two Steves - bring 1750 of allies to attack the entrenchments.
Brad - Not sure if you have any of the army books yet so bring a 1325 list if you can make one or just bring your stuff and we will either build a list there or you could combine with Jeremy or Will.

Okay I think I can do that. I need to work the kinks out of my 1750 list anyway.
Steve, I agree with you, I think our set up was good, we just need a better allied execution.
I think I should go up against Will with my list. And we shall see how it goes, I have no idea how I am going to handle king tigers though. (and will you should field them if it is in your list, dont change your list on account of me, I have to learn how to tackle them some how).
Steve, How is the write up of the scenario coming?
This friday is looking good!

I have not yet gotten any of the books. Something new Steve pointed out to me, is that the Sperrverband infantry company I got happens to be eastern front. So I need to get the hammer and sickle book for their point values (book is on its way via amazon). Can we use any late war forces regardless of the front? Or do I have to use western front units? Man I'm excited to try them. A lot of anti-tank and a few anti-infantry guns. If I CAN use them, I dont think I would even bother with any tanks. Just Infantry and the big guns of course.

This friday is looking good! off the top of my head I would say that the best way you have to handale the King Tigers is Aircraft or an Infantry assualt. The Aircraft will also be usefull for dealing with Will's Rocket launchers. Actually I am really sorry I will not be there on Friday I would enjoy being there to see how will can put together a llist with 1325 points that that can have both King Tigers and rocket launchers and still hold the front. Remember that 1 King tiger and 8 Rocket launchers with extra crew tototals 820 points leaving Will Only 500 points for every thing else ;D

Yes you can use ane eastern front list against the Brits and Americans or West front force like the 21st panzer division on the East front. Any late war force will work

Thank you Temis. I also got a similar response on the FoW Forums.
I am going to review my list again and make some adjustments.
Also, Temis which side do you anticipate playing on for the megabattle?
I believe that you or steve could play either side. both with russians and temis with brits.
Right now I am fairly certain that the teams are:
Allied- New Steve, Mike (old steve/temis, Will?) Axis- Brad, Jeremy (old Steve/Temis? Colby?)
And I am left with the following two board configuration
4 tables = 8 feet x 12 feet, with deployments on the 8 foot side
or
3 tables = 6 feet x 12 feet, with deployments on the 6 foot side
Thoughts?

How about 2 tables - 6 x 8 with the fortifications stretching across the 8 foot side. With possibly two or three players per side, that give us 2650 or 3975 axis points. Put some of them into reserve (25% of the platoons at least) and we have much less to defend the line.
Three tables may work better (what do folks think??) but present a problem of access - tough to reach far enough into three tables configured as 6x12 unless we stagger them somehow and that makes running an entrenchment line difficult.

lets take a moment to put the boards together and take a quick look at the layout on friday and see what it looks like.
I think That will help a lot.
