GMG June Game Day Help

Hey all,

At the last Wednesday board game night I let everyone there know that the Green Mountain Gamers (GMG) would like to hold their annual Game n' Grill Game Day in the Upper Valley this June.

They are looking for help with securing a location for the event. I volunteered to help coordinate with them. So I am looking for your help.... the gamers in the Upper Valley.

The criteria for the location:
- Indoor facility that can accommodate 50-60 gamers comfortably
- Plenty of room for 10-12 tables for games with appropriate chairs.
- Outdoor area for grilling. This should be an area outside the facility that they can bring a grill (or two) in for people to grill!
-They would like to be able to use the facility from 9am to 10pm. (Includes set up time)
-Cost should be in the $100 range. They collect donations at the game days. So they are not looking to spend alot of money. If a location has no fee...they will usually split the donations with the venue. (Local charity, churches etc...)
-The date would be early June ideally. (Saturday June 4th) but may need to move obviously.
-Some other criteria, but not as important.... places to eat nearby. (Even with the grilling, people may still want to grab something else) Use of a refrigerator at the facility. (They sell inexpensive soda and water at the game days.) Locations near the highways. (Just easier for people to get to...)

When we talked last Wednesday some people already had some ideas they were going to look into.

Chuck - Hartland Rec and Damon Hall in Hartland
Noah - Location in Norwhich
Rod- Ascutney location
Robert - Location in Lebanon (Red something....)

If any one else has any ideas please let me know here or if you see me at Triple Play. Some other towns we should be looking at: White River, Wilder, West Leb, Hanover, possibly Claremont and other communities in NH.

I'm looking into this in the Leb area, Rod.

Good thinking Jeff. I think El knows the Whaleback people too (they've done parties there) so it's on the list. It's a great location (but not within walking distance of food)

Ahh yes. I think the only thing even close is Subway by the Highway exit.

Not sure walking distance to food is all that important, as long as there is food within a 5-10 min drive. Lyndon did not have food within walking distance, but downtown was just a few minutes drive.

Well, the truck stop at exit 18 is both slightly closer and much better. If you haven't had breakfast their yet (all day), you should, Jeff. Don't even bother with a menu, order from their specials.

The Norwich Grange seems like a great option:
- They really want people to use the space
- Reservation fee is around $85 for the whole building, or maybe less without the kitchen
- They have 10+ tables, and 70+ chairs
- There are two large rooms, one upstairs, one downstairs
- BBQs in the front lawn are fine
- They said the first two Saturdays in June are free, and 9am-10pm is fine

Rod, should I send this info and the contact names to someone at Green Mt Gamers?

I'm also planning to call the Marion Cross grade school, which Heather said gets rented out sometimes.
