Due to scheduling difficulties caused by the holiday season, for one month only Triple Play will be hosting our regular Legend of the Five Rings CCG tournament on a Sunday, December 19th. The format is Celestial Edition, with cards from Glory of the Empire up to Empire at War, the newest expansion, all legal, including any promos that became legal during that time.
The entry fee is $5, and all money raised will be turned into store credit as part of the prize support. Promo cards will also be given out to all participants, and there will be an extra prize for the highest finishing player taking part in their first tournament.
The tournament begins at 12.00 noon, and should be finished no later than around 6pm. If anyone has any questions, please email me at daigotsu13@gmail.com, or contact the store and ask for Sean. We look forward to seeing you there!

Is sean going to keep the store open longer that day? They normally close at 2. I'm going to try and be there for this one!

Checked and responded to. Chris, I had arranged for Tony to keep the store open until 6pm that day, but with the Flames of War event now scheduled for the same day, I'm looking at either moving or canceling the event.

This tournament will be my last at Triple Play. I'd like to thank Sean and Tony for their support and very much hope that L5R continues to grow at the store - let me stress that although I'm not going to be running tournaments, I'm sure Triple Play will find someone else to continue doing so.
Thanks, Mark

I am sorry to hear this Mark. You have done a great job creating interest in the game and creating an L5R community at Triple Play. I hope we will still see you at the store playing L5R. Thanks for all your time and effort, Rod

Even with the scheduling problems many peopled faced because of the holiday season, we still saw six players for our monthly tournament. Many thanks to Angela, Joe and Devin who made the trip across for Mass to ensure we had enough players for the tournament to go ahead.
We ran three rounds of Swiss cutting to a top two. At the end of Swiss, the standings were:
1st Mark Armitage (Spider) 3-0 T-2nd Devin X (Scorpion) 2-1 T-2nd Joe Hicks (Crab) 2-1 T-4th Shelby Armitage (Phoenix) 1-2 T-4th Angela DiTillio (Dragon) 1-2 6th Tony Vandenberg (Scorpion) 0-3
Commiserations to Tony, who had played literally one game with the deck before the tournament began. He did earn a very cool L5R dice bag for his efforts though.
The small number of players meant the players on 2-1 and 1-2 were exactly equal on tiebreakers, so Joe and Devin played off to see who would make the final, and Devin took the victory. In the final, two early Oyo Seidos and a mistake by Devin in not using Bayushi's Guidance to discard the third meant I could keep afloat long enough to overwhelm him with my shambling hordes. Devin and I split the $30 store credit evenly, and everybody left with promo cards and either a clan foil pack or clan backers.
Thanks to everyone that attended not only this, but any of the tournaments I've run at Triple Play. I'm sure there will be an announcement shortly regarding the next event, and I look forward to seeing people every other Wednesday!
Thanks, Mark
