so i was reading my 5th ed book, and i read this part about invul saves that i missed befor... it says that they can be taken when a model suffers a wound. does this mean models like vehicles and walkers cant have an invul save because they dont take wounds they take glances and pennitrating hits?
and in the case of the text reading
all units within 12" gain X ability
does that mean the unit that causes that to happen also gains X ability because it's within 12" of it's self...
example: does that mean an Eldar Farseer cannot cast guide/fortune on itself or its own unit?
im wondering this here, because the distance between something and it's self is exactly 0.0 and 0.0" < 12"
soooo confused.

Correct, vehicles cannot have saves unless the save specifies "against glancing or penetrationg hits," or just "hits" in general. Look at obscured saves, Bjorn the fell handed, and Eldar Titan holofield saves for examples.

For this second question, a unit is generally perceived to be within x distance of itself unless stated otherwise. Example: the Sanguinor's special ability specifically states that it affects all friendly models within 6" but not himself. Flip side would be a mek, whose KFF affects all friendly models within 6" and doesn't specifically exclude him, therefore he gets the benefit. Hope that helped.
