I have read through all the Unofficial warbands, and given tentative approval to all of them, but Experimentals are out. We'll have to discuss whether we would prefer to go for a full league to start, or run a short two week one just to help everyone get the hang of things and really decide what they think before starting up a full league. Preferences?

Yeah the experimental ones are pretty unbalanced, but most of the unofficial ones were printed in an old fanzine. We used a couple of them back home in leagues and they're quite balanced. I wish I still had my pirates.
edit: has anybody heard about "death squads"? Crappy name, but a really solid 40k take on a mordheim style game. It's entirely fan-based, and the rules look pretty good. They really need a graphic designer to touch up the pdf though, heh.

I am all for the Mordheim League. I used to love Gorka Morka (same game/rules/campaigns except with only ork warbands in 40k universe, for anyone that is not familiar). I am leaning towards a Skaven warband, probably using goblin proxies to test them out before I go buy any skaven models.
We could probably do this on Saturdays after the 40k campaign, at least for the first couple weeks (as the games should be pretty quick with only 500 points). I do think a couple weeks might be good to start so people can try out a warband or two before we have to settle on one for a campaign.

Well, I'm planning to set up a couple warbands to bring with me on Friday and Saturday this week, if anyone doesn't know the rules yet and is interested in learning. I'll set up a sign up thread once I finish (read: can be bothered to start) setting up a background beyond "You're looters. You loot things. There are things in Mordheim...Why wouldn't you be there?" or decide to stick with that.

I think any way you spin it it's going to whittle down to the looter background, so I wouldn't bother trying to come up with anything resembling a plot....

I also have a bunch of green glass beads that we used to use back home to represent wyrdstone in game. I can donate them to the game room for use in Mordheim.

Dual-wielding gives you an extra attack with whatever the extra weapon is, right? If I recall, a warrior that has base 1 attack and equipped with a sword and a mace gets 1 mace atk and 1 sword atk.
How does dual swords work for parry?
Also can you dual wield and still have a buckler?

Dual swords does nothing for parry other then give you parry. You get two sword attacks.

I don't suppose anyone will be around tomorrow for a practice game? I'm in desperate need of brushing up.

I was trying to figure out whether or not you could dual-wield with a buckler/shield also. There is nothing in the rules saying that you can not use a shield or buckler while dual-wielding. It does specifically note that you can't use one with two-handed weapons, so I find it kind of interesting that they could not be bothered to clarify this in either the armor save, dual-wielding, parry, or shield/buckler sections of the rules.
Realistically, while one could strap a shield or buckler to one forearm and dual wield, I don't think that it would be practical and most likely would hinder fighting and parrying. I am all for maintaining a little bit of reality in an otherwise unrealistic world, so I suggest we just say no to shields/bucklers while dual-wieldiing.
One solution is to buy the buckler/shield along with your two weapons anyway. I don't see why you couldn't switch between dual-wielding and sword with buckler/shield on a case by case basis. Declare what he'll be fighting with as he charges or gets charged, and then no changing while in combat.

You can't use a shield and two one handed weapons at the same time. Bucklers I'm not as sure about. I can't make it up Sunday but I'd be happy to play albeit with proxies on Thursday if anyone want to play.
