Actually I don't think it will take more than 15 minutes for us to set up the initial game board for Planetary Empires.
If everyone is okay with taking that time before (or after) the Megabattle, I could come down and throw my Asur into the fray.

Good to see you in on this one brad. Drew, i think that doing the setup before the megabattle would be preferable at like 10:00am on saturday.

10 sounds good.
Here's the fluff!
Planet Name: Yulanos Segmentum: Pacificus Planet Classification: Hive World (southern continents) Dead World (northern continents)
A mere standard year ago, Yulanos was a major hub for refinement and processing of raw materials in the New Perth subsector. The population was over 60 billion and growing at a rate deemed satisfactory and sustainable by the planetary government. The last insurrection had been over four generations ago and Lord Governor Damek was actually respected by the populace due to his humanitarian reforms to the acceptable accident rates in the planetary manufactorums. Life on Yulanos, at least in comparison to other hive worlds, was pretty good.
Enter 'Da Orks' All that changed with the coming of Waaagh Grubbynutz. Making quick work of the orbital defenses, the orks surprised the Imperial tacticians by make landfall in the hinterlands of the sparsely populated northern polar continent. Contact was swiftly lost with the few setttlements that existed there and the Imperial government prepared for the invasion they knew was coming. They did not have to wait long. Smashing aside the resistance offered by the brave soldiers of the Imperial Guard (and completely obliterating the less competent fighters of the Yulanos PDF), the Orks laid waste to both of the northern hemisphere's continents, including the strategically vital Yulanos Primaris. The Imperial authorities evacuated those citizens that they could and prepared for the invasion of the southern hemispheric continents.
“Experimental” Solution When a Black Templars strike force sent to destroy the ork warboss failed to accomplish their mission, Lord Governor Damek sent out a desperate call for assistance using secret channels he had never dared use before. Any tactic, he said, would be acceptable to clean the greenskins from his world. Less than two standard days later, a coven of Ordos Xenos inquisitors arrived on planet. The informed the governor that they would be using a new xeno-weapon to defeat the orks. To the governor's horror, they began to unleash tyranid monstrosities on the northern continents, freeing tides of all manner of xenomorphs in the areas where the orks were operating. When Damek objected, the Inquisition reminded him that he had decreed “any tactic” to be acceptable
It worked. What couldn't be accomplished by the guns and steel of the Imperial Guard and Space Marines was swiftly done by the chitin and talons of the Tyranid. The orks, bloodied and beaten by the forces of the Great Devourer, withdrew from the planet, promising to return. The tyranids, their task completed, were destroyed unleashed by the inquisition unleashed days after the orks left.
Aftermath However, the cost was appallingly high. Nearly every civilian in the northern hempshire who failed to evacuate was slain either by the orks or their tyranid “saviors”. In addition, ork remnants and pockets of surviving tyranids continued to maraud the northern continents, making any attempts to recolonize difficult. Indeed, many among the planet's nobility called for the sterilization of the northern continents from orbit.
The Lord Governor denied their request. Yulanos Primaris had been the industrial heartland of the planet and much of the refining machinery and manufacturing equipment there was still intact. Desperate to recover these resources and restart the economy of the planet, Governor Damek instead issued a revolutionary decree. Any Imperial group who could successfully pacify Yulanos Primaris would be granted right of lordship over those dominions. Not surprisingly, a number of Imperial Generals, Astartes Chapter Masters and even Ministorum officials sent forces to secure the continent. Of course other, less Imperial, forces are at work on Yulanos Primaris as well and only time will tell who will emerge victorious.

That sounds great Drew about saturday AM... I dont mind at all.
If you wna tto play I may be able to write you into the battle! We will have to chat! You can make a 2000K list using your normal rules except no dragon. You might be defending something. I will have to write you in as everybody else will be making a campaign army. OR you can make a campaign army just giving yourself one point for each week and spending army points. I will be a 2250 list with no army points used for magic items, banners or mounts. You will have to spend army experience points for them. Just let me know.
I like your back story as well! Have fun!

So if there's an open table and someone who isn't involved in the Megabattle wants to get in a game of 40k I'm all for it!

Hey Tom, you can use my dwarfs if you want. they tend to be pretty simple and straight forward just right for a Marine player!
