It has been brought to my attention that the store will be closing at the end of the month.
I think we should do a large day of play. Maybe tournament style? Maybe lots of games?
What do others think?
what dates are available?
evening? one day? two day?
thoughts?

I would certainly be up for a big day of Flames of War. At this point, any weekend day is currently open for me, but I would prefer to game on a Saturday. We could do a large team battle, such as 3v3, equating to a D-day or battle of Kursk style event.

Sounds good, I'll keep my eye posted on the forum and we can work some dates out that hopefully a few of us will be able to attend.

What do you mean by the store will be shut down by the end of the month? As in its closing for repairs or its shutting down for good?

They are shutting down for good at the end of the month. It has something to do with their lease, but I do not know the specifics. You'll have to ask one of the employees of Triple Play for more info. It is sad to see such a good gaming store go out.

alrighty folks...
Here is the scoop. Steve and I talked to sean at triple play tonight.
Saturday March 29th will be an open gaming.
We want to spread the word to all FoW players past and present that this could be their last chance to play together as a group at triple play.
I want to do some sort of tournament style escalation, similar to a campaign. Play a couple rounds at 500 pts, then 700 pts, all the way up to 1750, then end the day with a mega battle with all of the players that came out.
We can figure out a way to bring in food and beverage. Maybe a pot luck? What do you all say? I am going to add a poll to this thread.
So far I know of the following Players UPDATED 3/7/2014
Old Steve (in) New Steve (in) Jeff Jeff M (in) Will (in) Jeremy Mike Temis wayne Chuck
Are there any others? Please spread word!
What are the other thoughts?

I am definitely in, and have the 29th marked off as Mega FOW day at Triple Play on my schedule. We should start discussing what types of scenarios we want to run to accomodate the various point builds for armies. And how many actual rounds will be played in the day, and then leave enough room open for a large battle at the end of the day. Steve, it would be nice to do an escalation set for the day and to increase in points up through, however we need to see what is reasonable for a day's worth of playing. Also, do folks want more tank vs. tank, or infantry based battles, or the standard mix and match of lists? I am up for most scenarios, and I vote we end the day with a large tank on tank battle, I am thinking Battle of Kursk style.

Jeff,
my thoughts:
Starting play at 1030, escalation rounds, mixed armies, build your own lists, use any late war list or book, use chess clock style of play, roll for your mission. Run as a general play style (roll for your mission, different opponent each round) in a tournamentish format. Just looking to get games in and have fun. Do you think you should keep the same company and add stuff for the points or you can play any army/nationality/company for each round? I am leaning on the latter, less restrictions that way. I am open and willing to bringing snacks and stuff and putting down for food like pizza or chinese or what not for the day and or dinner.
1030 to 1130 500 pts takes 1 hour max 15 minute break
1145 to 1245 700 pts takes 1 hour max 15 minute break
1300 to 1430 1000 pts takes 1.5 hours max take 30 minute break
1500 to 1700 1500 pts takes 2 hours max take 1 hour break for dinner and changing table set up, maybe we should try to keep the dinner in house, and do some sort of roast for the regular/vintage players, I want to make the most of getting the group in one place.
1800 to 2100 or until we drop Giant tank battle (use the tanks giving format?) Jeff can you handle the details of the mega game? point cap of 1750 armor, artillery, planes, and limit each company to one infantry platoon only?
I am only suggesting the full day because this is the last time we are going to be able to do an event like this at triple play.
Thoughts?

My take of the Mega Battle. ASSAULTS are the time hog of Flames of War. If you do not understand assaults. This will slow down your game.
I think I and Jeff Mayo will have a advantage on other players in this arena.
Jeff and I have ran infantry companies all winter long. We have bloodied each other and Assaults have pretty much determined our outcome in games.
If you just go with tanks all day. I think you will find that the flow of the games will go pretty quick.
If not. I am running vet infantry all day long with antitank, artillery and AOP support. Come dig me out. I will be waiting on the other side of my barbwire or Minefields.
