A rules question on moving inside ruins came up this saterday as Brad and I played a game. Alas, I hadn't brought my book, nor had Brad, so it ended up going to a D6. Now that I'm home, I see that yes, I was indeed wrong. Also that I've been playing it wrong even since 5th came out. When inside the ruins, climbing up a floor reduces your horizontal movement by 3. NOT as I had been playing, that you just needed 3 (or 6) to move up or down a floor, but you still got all of your horizontal movement. Teach me to visit 3play w/o my rulebook -Conrad

Another thing we need to start doing is clarifying before a game starts whether or not something is a ruin or an actual building...

I also just found out that striking scorpions cannot infiltrate a serpent too.

Actually I'm pretty sure you can. Who told you that you couldn't?

I don't have the Eldar Codex but looking in the rule book...
Under Infiltrate in Universal Special Rules "If a unit with this ability is deployed inside a transport vehicle, it cannot infiltrate. Infiltrate also confers a special outflank move to units of infiltrators that are kept in reserve. (see page 94)
Going to page 94 and looking under Outflank "Note that if such units are picked from their army list together with a dedicated transport, they may outflank with their transport, but if they do so they must move onto the table embarked in it."
So, it seems, as long the Serpent can be bought from the Striking Scorpions entry as a dedicated transport they may Outflank IN it.
Not sure if you had been trying to "Infiltrate" a tank (with Scorpions inside) by placing it 18 inches away from a visible enemy, but that it seems can't be done. As soon as the Scorpions enter the tank, they cannot Infiltrate. Nor does the Infiltrate rule say it gets passed along to whatever transport the unit is in. (Which would be moot as the unit looses Infiltrate when they enter the vehicle)
Granted, this is all assuming the Eldar Codex doesn't have it's own special rule to trump the rulebook. Erm... hope that cleans things up...

Right, it can Outflank. That's what I meant to say.
