So I was reading Librarium's forums and found an interesting post about Space Wolves and the Gunfighter rule. It seemed like it would be really cool, so I thought I'd post the list I came up with, building from that post.
Gunslinger SW - 1500
HQ Logan Grimnar Wolf Priest w/ Plasma Pistol, Melta Bombs and Runic Armor Wolf Priest w/ Plasma Pistol, Wolf Tail Talisman and Runic Armor
Troops: 9 Wolf Guard w/ 2x Plasma Pistols in a Drop Pod 9 Wolf Guard w/ 2x Plasma Pistols in a Drop Pod
Heavy Support 4 Long Fangs w/ Unit Commander and x4 Missile Launchers in a Razorback w/ Lascannon and TL Plasma Gun
The basic idea is pretty simple. Logan goes with the Long Fangs in the Razorback to give them Preferred enemy. One Wolf Priest per Wolf Guard pack to give them Preferred Enemy as well. Keep the Razorback safe until you drop a pod near their biggest threat. Then proceed to vaporize that threat with 19 S7 AP2 Shots. The advantage to running the pistol setup (in addition to the pure AWESOME that is Space Marines dual weilding Pistols) is that you get the 2 shots AND keep your +1 CC attack.
So what do you think? Is this list something that could work? Is it pure cheese? I'd like some thoughts.

That doesn't surprise me too much. It's basically a 2000 point list that's been stripped down to 1500.

Wait... was your army on saturday any bigger? metagamedCould be fun! I'd worry that some armies will have their strongest units still in a transport or in reserve when your pods come down. It might work better at the higher points levels as you'd be able to afford enough anti-tank to at least glance their transports to death before that second pod comes in.

Thanks for the thoughts, Drew. What do you think good AT would be if I ramped it up to 2k? Or maybe I could cut one of the WG squads for something cheaper, and then get some AT in a 1500 point list?

I was gonna tease Ross about that as well Drew, lol Honest Opinion Meta? That list looks like wicked amounts of fun but you need to minimize some things if you want to make it work at 1500. I would consider dropping the wolf guard to 6 per squad and taking the plasma pistols off the Wolf Priest. That is saving you 198 points right there to get some more anti tank power. The only other thing that I would look out for is the fact that your guard are just a 3+ save right? I think it's FAR away from cheese. But the fun level is cranking out You drop in and remove the two squads you are shooting at! This is just my opinion however! I would not drop a wolf guard squad! If anything I can see you fitting in a third squad at that point. Maybe another option is dropping each wolf gaurd to 6 but have 3 squads. Take away the razorback and try to fit in a second long fang squad. That AV 11 In the middle of writting this post I wrote up a list. You can fit Logain with two priests, 3 squads of 6 plasma gaurd in pods, and 3 long fangs with 4 missle launchers. I may of messed up some points as it's late. The nice thing about that version? 3 long fangs means you are can opening. SW's drop pods have drop pod assault. I don't have drop pods but I assume you HAVE to drop pod assault. With 3 pods you can drop 2 on turn 1 . Oh and I put melta boms and tail on both priests. Not sure if this was the kind of help you were looking for. Hopefully I was helpful. I can elaborate on more things if you'd like. I just didn't want to write up 4 pages for you to not actually be interested PS For the same points you can have a rune priest. Correct me if I am wrong here, but they dish out some insane offense. I don't know Space Wolves that well. But I see some real potential out of the Rune priests.

I think Fuzzum's advice is pretty solid, for the extra points you could just add more long fangs to get that range you need.

Thanks for the advice, Fuzzums! I'll tinker with my list some more and see what happens.
