To be honest I think most of our games should be at 1999 now. I have been finding that as I try to design lists 1999 seems to be the point value where I can really make the perfect list I'm thinking with the new wound allocation, 1500 is going to be the sweet spot for tournaments and what not. Even after we get the hang of it resolving shooting and combats are going to take longer.

1500 is definitely not the sweet spot, I find it to be pretty restrictive 1850-1999 are still the ideal point values. The new wound allocation will go way quicker than the 5th ed system once we get it down.

The new system does go faster so long as there are enough guys before the character

I guess I'll have to see it to believe it. To me it looked like everything that happens in 5th still happens, but then there's a number of exceptions that will end up bogging things down as people game for advantage. There's also all the other additions to the rules, which on their own are only a few seconds, but aggregated across multiple units two players and six turns will add up to several additional minutes we didn't have before. And nevermind that assaults can be preceded by their own shooting phase with it's own wound resolution.

Vince, I'm not sure if you witnessed a full squad of ten nobz all armed differently take wounds. In 5th you had to seperate out all the wounds and carefully go through who takes what and go through the saves. Now, you just need to be practiced with the order of how things go and since there is no point anymore in arming things differently you just give them all the same type of saves - roll the saves and then start removing models. It's different so there will be a learning curve but once everyone has it down you can just start rolling dice.

I feel like our last 5th ed 2000 point tournament had a lot of games ending early. Add in the confusion of new rules (as any efficiencies gained through streamlining would be offset by people looking stuff up) and you can be sure our first 6th ed tourney will be 1.5k.
Best to start small, IMO. No one wants games ending on turn 2 or 3. We'll give the community time to ease into using the rules in competitive play. If we find we can handle it and that it runs quicker than fifth, I'm definitely open to scaling up for future tourneys.

Hey, I just wanted you folks to know that there is an Imperial Guardsman that someone left at the shop, one of the workers said that he may leave it up at the desk. If not then its on a ruin tank in the basement.

Bring on the 1500 pointer! Any August weekends currently on the radar for the tourney? I'd love to get that on the calendar now.
