on the upside, I think the codex reads a lot tighter and seems to be more thought out and logical as a whole than 5th. I like the snap fire option, it allows a more space for choices between just firing and not firing. I am not sure what I think about the characters and challenges aspects to the game. The Precison strike rules feels a lot like the wild die in the Star Wars Role Playing game where if you rolled a 6 on certain roles it would trigger super bonuses. I think it will add more randomness to many battles which really could be fun.

re: Chris - I am not surprised you are disappointed, I think you will still have fun, though.
re: Ross - why does Mephiston suck now?

2 Reasons
Because the second he has to fight something with a 2+ save he will be stuck and killed. Most armies can adapt to the new rules by fielding hqs with a 2+save and a weapon that can pierce 2+ saves. (ALSO INSERT TH/SS pregnant dog comment)
Or all you have to do is challenge him with a throw away character, he has to accept. He kills stupid character and is locked in combat. Next combat phase all the opposing unit has to do is have 6 models alive before he swings and you have a good chance of keeping him locked in combat.
This is the exact same problem I had with fantasy. All you need is a character who can tank or be a cheap throwaway and you can negate at least two turns of somebodies else's models. This problem applies to most close combat characters who now have ap3 weapons, its to easy to counter them in close combat with cheaper things.

I think I might be with you in not liking challenges... I did not like the idea at first glance... I want to play some games, though before I make a real judgement for my self.

It's just a different game now - get used to it I wouldn't mind it if two of the three armies I played where actually designed to be played in this new game you speak of..... I could rely on the allies crutch, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't fix any of the problems i have with this game....

Haha that is pretty priceless.
Have you noticed that Stealth fields now give +3 to your cover saves? Other than rapid fire I don't see much else changed drastically for tau.

Id say they got a buff with the new nightfighting if blacksun filters still have the same effect (doubling nightfight range) especially as every one of the new missions has a 50/50 chance for nightfight

I didnt see they changed them to just nightvision. Also because they got lazy and made almost all usrs work as long as one memeber has the rule one pair effects a whole squad.
I was building a list last night when i realized that. Also outflank works that way i think.

So.... I know chances of survival are usuual better when rolling one die at a time, but it seems to me that it would significantly slow down the game. How would everyone feel about making the "Fast Dice" suggestion the standard for us? (Pg16) That's how Jon, Damian, Evan and I have been playing it so far and until "Look out sir!"And starts up with a 30phone wound pool it seems to make the game go at the the same pace it used to
