The thing that bothers me is the most is that flyers have been around before 6th edition through forgeworld rules. But before 6th edition they where all armour 10, with very few exceptions. This kind of worked.
6th edition drops and two armour 12 vehicles gained all the hard to hit rules and have become the thing to take. The first true 6th edition flyer is armour 12, has a 5++, and can regain hull points. The heavy weapons that can hurt these things can't be fielded in mass to hit them and the only real AA options need 5s to glance normally.
They are just to durable for the points cost and most codexs don't have options other than allieing in the same flyers to fight them. The game boils down to having to fight rock with rock which bores me.

And scale wise flyers as they are presented in 6th edition just don't fit into the 40k table top, previously they would zoom across the table and be gone, which worked much better to represent their impact and speed. Now the wy they are represented, even Orks should be able to blow them out of the air easily. It's just that GW wrote the rules in such a cynical fashion to encourage buying the flyer kits, and for me have just kept me from wanting to play the game.

You could just buy some flyers to. I'm not a fan of the flyers either or a lot of the rules that have come to be sense I once played. I guess GWEN is just trying to make it more equal across the bored so little kids don't get discouraged and keep spending there parents money on models.

I actually have some old flyers, but im not at all interested in using them in 40k, especially with the new rules, they destroy the story of the game for me, or whatever realism might mean in this silly game. If you want to fit them in make thier movement be in yards instead of inches and make the table that big, require them to move 50 yards to actually get the zooming effect. And if they hover make them far easier to hit( sort of like helicopters today, big slow target up in the sky easy to hit).

It was kind of a odd thing to do. I havn't seen anyone deepstirke a flyer, but apparently GW wanted it gone... for game balance or something.

So Tau in April? I would really like this to be true.
I'm getting pretty shocked by this super fast release schedule GWs got going on.
