On Saturday May 12th we will be having a team tournament! I encourage you to acquire a team member PRIOR to the tournament, as otherwise we will not be able to assure participation.
Registration at 10:30AM. Wholesale battle begins at 11:00AM.
Basic Rules:
• 2 hour time limit for rounds. Warnings given at the half-hour and five minute remaining marks. A 45 minute lunchbreak will be given after the first round.
• Do NOT start a round that you cannot finish.
• No round should start after the five minute warning (though you may obviously use the time to finish up a round that you are already working on)
• While I would prefer that you would work out rules disputes amongst yourself, I will be on hand to be a judge. Beware! If you call me in, you must accept my ruling.
• There are no battle points. This will be a W/L/D tournament, with the top three winners receiving some form of prize. In the event of a tie in record, the first tiebreaker will be number of missions completed. If there is still a tie, then victory points margin in the final round will be used as the final tiebreaker.
• Prizes to the top team and "best painted team", they cannot be the same team. (Leave your armies set up after the second round, as we will be voting on "best painted team" between rounds two and three.)
Team Rules:
• Each team member will bring one 1250 point list which will combine to make a single 2500 combined force. Points can not be shared between team members, as in Johnny having 1000 and Steve having 1500.
• Each member will build their own list from a chosen approved Warhammer 40k army codex, they do not have to be the same army.
• Both players’ lists will occupy one force org chart. So 2 HQ, 3 Elite, 6 Troop, 3 Fast, 3 Heavy; distributed as the team members see fit.
• Each member must bring a minimum of 1 troop. In addition one of the two players must bring an HQ.
• Each team members’ army wide bonuses or special abilities applying to friendly units will only affect friendly units they control UNLESS the players are using the same codex.
• Transports from one team members’ army can not be used to transport another team members unit.
Scenarios
This will be a three round tournament, with a different scenario for each round. For each scenario, there will be three identified missions that you and your opponent will be attempting to accomplish. The player who has accomplished the MOST missions by the end of the game will be declared the winner.
In a situation in which both players have completed the same number of missions, then it will go down to a special tiebreaker condition (which, surprise surprise, will feature a little thing called TEAMWORK).
If neither side achieves this tiebreaker condition then victory points will be calculated. If one player is found to have 150 or more victory points than the other, then he wins. Otherwise, the game is a true draw, and I hate you.
All scenarios utilize the RANDOM GAME LENGTH, DEEPSTRIKE, INFILTRATE, and RESERVES special rules.
Scenario 1: The line must be drawn HERE!
Deployment: Pitched battle
• 1st Mission: Score more kill points than your opponent
• 2nd Mission: Control more of 3 objectives. The objects will be placed along the center line with one in the center and the two others placed equally between the center and the short table edges
• 3rd Mission: Get more units (scoring or otherwise) fully into opponents deployment zone than he has in yours
Tiebreaker condition: Both players have a unit (scoring or otherwise) in the opponent's deployment zone.
Scenario 2: Monkey in the middle!
Deployment: Spearhead
• 1st Mission: Score more kill points than your opponent
• 2nd Mission: Control more of 5 objectives (center-of-board objective, plus one in the center of each table quarter.
• 3rd Mission: Control the center of board objective.
Tiebreaker condition: Both player have at least one scoring unit holding an uncontested objective.
Scenario 3: Stay Alive (I will find you!)
Deployment: Dawn of War (note that since we are using shared force orgs, the 1 HQ and 2 troops allowed by dawn of war are per TEAM, not player.)
• 1st Mission: Kill half (round up) or more of your opponent’s kill points (both players may accomplish this)
• 2nd Mission: Control more objectives: one objective per team, plus one center of board objective.
• 3rd Mission: Score more victory points than your opponent.
Tiebreaker condition: Both players must have half or more of their total victory points remaining.
NOTE: Thanks to Discordian for giving me the basic outline for this.
