Dare I say an 6th table might need to be squeezed in?
Just for reference, I will sit if we have to many people and someone new to the store or 40k would like to play.

Tony can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we've had 6 tables set up before.
As the TO I'll be the first to step aside to allow me to better officiate and take pictures. I'm just here to round out the numbers so that no one has to take a bye.
Looks like the RSVP list looks like this:
Jeremy Ross Poofy Neb Mark Brad Hashmark Tony
Possibles: Damien Jon
If needed: Me
So we've got 8 commits and 2 possibles. Looking good, though more are always welcome. I'll get working on the missions so that you all have couple weeks time to go over them and poke holes in them.

So is there still room for one more? Sounds like we've got room for 14 if we need to, so come on down! @all I'm gonna try and get missions up by the end of the day today. Those of you who participated in the Legion Qualifier can expect something similar to that.

Well good to know. I guess RSVP then.
Was the Legion Qualifier another 40k tournament or something?

Well good to know. I guess RSVP then. Sweet. You bring us up to 9 RSVPs along with 2 possibles. Yeah, it's a regional series of tournaments for 40k that takes place annually. Hopefully they'll run it again this fall.

Everyone at Quarterstaff has lost interest in 40k. Not everyone. I think there are a few guys there who still play it. But who knows, I guess.

Tripleplay 1500 Point Tournament Basic Rules:- 1500 point army lists, using normal force organization charts from current codices. As a general rule, Forgeworld lists are not allowed.
- 2 hour time limit for rounds. Warnings given at the half-hour and five minute remaining marks.
- Do NOT start a round that you cannot finish.
- No round should start after the five minute warning (though you may obviously use the time to finish up a round that you are already working on)
- While I would prefer that you would work out rules disputes amongst yourself, I will be on hand to be a judge. Beware! If you call me in, you must accept my ruling.
- There are no battle points. This will be a W/L/D tournament, with the top three winners receiving some form of prize. In the event of a tie in record, the first tiebreaker will be number of missions completed. If there is still a tie, then victory points margin in the final round will be used as the final tiebreaker.
- Leave your army set up after the first round, as I will be roaming around taking pictures. Later I will post them up in this thread to show the world how cool you guys are. If, for some reason, you don't want your army photographed, let me know.
ScenariosThis will be a three round tournament, with a different scenario for each round. For each scenario, there will be three identified missions that you and your opponent will be attempting to accomplish. The player who has accomplished the MOST missions by the end of the game will be declared the winner. In a situation in which both players have completed the same number of missions, then victory points will be calculated. If one player is found to have 150 or more victory points than the other, then he wins. Otherwise, the game is a true draw. All scenarios utilize the RANDOM GAME LENGTH, DEEPSTRIKE, INFILTRATE, and RESERVES special rules. Scenario 1: Fake-Out!Deployment: Dawn of War (see 40k rulebook) • 1st Mission: Score more kill points than your opponent • 2nd Mission: Control more of 3 objectives (placed 12” from the long board edge at 18”, 36” and 54” from the left short edge) in opponents deployment zone with scoring units • 3rd Mission: Control more of 3 objectives (placed 12” from the long board edge at 18”, 36” and 54” from the left short edge) in your deployment zone with scoring units Special Rule: At the beginning of game turn three, randomly remove one objective from each player’s deployment zone, leaving a total of two on each side. Scenario 2: Blitz!Deployment: Pitched battle, as seen in the 40k rulebook, EXCEPT(!) the players choose a SHORT table edge rather than a long edge. • 1st Mission: Score more kill points than your opponent • 2nd Mission: Control more of three objectives (center-of-board objective, plus one in the center of each player’s 24"X48"deployment zone) with scoring units • 3rd Mission: Get more units (scoring or otherwise) fully into opponents deployment zone than he has in yours Scenario 3: The BloodeningDeployment: Pitched Battle (see 40k rulebook) • 1st Mission: Kill half (round up) or more of your opponent’s kill points (both players may accomplish this) • 2nd Mission: Control center-of-board objective with a scoring unit • 3rd Mission: Score more victory points than your opponent (even one counts as a victory for this mission, so don't hold back [or do ])

Rules posted above. On the day of the tournament I will be handing out a piece of paper containing the above along with a check box for each mission in each scenario. It makes it somewhat more clear than seeing it in this format.
Again, those of you who played in legion qualifier will recognize this format.
Questions?

The second scenario, is the deployment 12" or 24"? The second mission suggests that it's 24"?

Short answer: 24" Long answer: It's pitched battle, but played from the short rather than long edges of the table. A common misconception is that pitched battle is 12" from your own edge. Not so, pitched battle is actually deploying 12" from the center line of the table. Tom and I used to play on his kitchen table, which was 54" across, giving us each a 15" deployment zone in pitched battle. So in this mission, where we have a standard board on which we are playing lengthwise 12" from the center would net each player a 24" deployment zone. I figured it would be a cool twist. Also, it pleases my geek nostalgia that it is reminiscent of the old blitz mission from 3rd ed. Hope that explained it. Let me know if not and I'll post up some horrible paint diagrams.
