Triple Play will be hosting a Legend of the Five Rings CCG Second City release event on Sunday September 18th. This is a sealed deck tournament, and the entry fee of $25 covers a starter deck and three boosters. The three clans featured are Dragon, Mantis and Scorpion. We will allow players to choose their starter deck while stocks permit.
Everybody that takes part will receive a special participation promo card (while stocks last). Extra promo cards will also be given out to all participants, and there will be an extra prize for the highest finishing player taking part in their first tournament. There will also be store credit awarded based upon attendance.
Second City is the second expansion printed with both the Celestial Edition and Emperor Edition bugs, meaning the cards from this set will be tournament legal for close to three years!
The tournament begins at 12.00 noon, and should be finished no later than around 6pm. If anyone has any questions, please email me at daigotsu13@gmail.com, or contact the store and ask for Sean. We look forward to seeing you there!

Sounds good Mark, with the starter and 3 boosters that makes for 40/40 decks right?

We tend to play 30/30 for sealed, as the card pool you're drawing from, even with the almost totally non-random starters, isn't that great. Plus...how often do we get to play 30/30 nowadays? Mark

Bumping this ahead of the weekend. Product should be in store this week - if there are any problems, I'll let people know as soon as possible. If you're thinking of attending, please reply here or drop me a line - it'll help the store know how much product to put aside.
Thanks, Mark

As a heads-up, the store has been short-shipped on starter decks, and only received two boxes. Sean has put them aside for the tournament, but this means there will only be 12 spaces available. I don't see this as being a problem, as I wasn't expecting that many people anyway, but if you are coming, it'd make sense to let us know!
Currently we have five players confirmed: myself, Shelby, Randall, Ben, and Sean. If anyone else is making it (I'm looking at you, Will! And you, Rod!), please reply here or drop me a line.
Thanks, Mark

No problem at all, Rod - hope you had a good time! Due to a couple of on-the-day cancellations, we had four players for the event. Still, this meant a relaxed day of round-robin followed by a final. Everybody cracked open a starter and three boosters, and we ran 30/30 minimum deck size. After the round robin, it was clear that the two Mantis decks were crushing all before them. The standings were: 1st Randall Fenner (Mantis) 3-0 2nd Mark Armitage (Mantis) 2-1 3rd Sean Wolfe (Scorpion) 1-2 4th Shelby Armitage (Dragon) 0-3 In the final, I managed to avenge my earlier defeat and pull off the victory against Randall. We split $20 worth of boosters for first and second, and everybody present got lots of new promos too. We'll be running a Second City draft on Thursday - details posted shortly! I'm not sure when we'll be able to fit a tournament into the October schedule: with a Solving the Riddle in Londonderry, the Obsidian Championships in Feeding Hills, and the European Championships in Dublin (okay, that one is only really relevant to Shelby and I ), it'll be tough, but we'll see what we can do. Thanks, Mark
