Heya folks
Okay, I have Thursday evening off, and will be at the store for around 6.30/7pm. Is anyone interested in doing a Before the Dawn booster draft? If we can get at least four players, we'll go ahead with it. Please reply here and let me know!
Entry will be buying 4 or 5 Before the Dawn boosters - Sean usually does them a discount for draft. We'll redraft the rares at the end, so everyone has a chance of getting something good. I'll also bring along a box of rares and promos, so everyone that takes part will get something.
Cheers Mark

Nobody interested? Just got Sean and myself at the moment, so we'd need a couple more players to make it work. Don't forget Before the Dawn cards will be tournament legal for nearly three years, so this is a great chance to get some cards that will definitely be worth money for quite a while.
Also, if we have any Wyrmbone Katanas left, I'm sure we can use them as participation cards for everyone. Getting a $10 card just for taking part seems like a good deal!

No worries, Pat. Looks like Rick is coming down, so we'll have at least four with Shelby and myself. Hopefully we'll see some other people there...did I mention there is lots of free stuff?
Take it easy, Mark

So is an L5R draft any different from a magic draft? Do we bring our own strongholds or are they provided?

There is a special draft pack that you need. It contains a special stronghold, 5 spearheads, three 3-gold holdings, bamboo harvesters and border keep, a duel strategy, and ring of earth (might be missing something...)
You draft a la magic, pick one card and pass until all packs are gone. Then you construct 20/20 decks, no more no less. You are allowed to declare 2 clans for the remainder of the tourney. These choices determine your allied clans for playing cheap, favor, etc.

Apologies for the delay in posting...a trip to Montreal for the Kotei and a crazy time at work mean I plain simple forgot. We had eight players for the draft, with three people playing in their very first L5R event. I hope you all had a great time! As the event was run on the shop computer, I'm doing this from memory, but I think it's mostly right 1st Curtis 3-0 2nd Shelby 2-1 3rd Rick 2-1 4th Mark 2-1 5th Ben 1-2 6th John 1-2 7th Will 1-2 8th Sean 0-3 Congratulations to Curtis for winning in his L5R draft debut! We gave out plenty of Wyrmbone Katanas and Masatanes, along with plenty of extra rares for the new guys. Hope you all had a great time. Next L5R night is next Thursday, June 16th. I'll be in the store from around 7pm, and can run a quick constructed tournament if folks want, or we can just get some casual games in. Looking forward to seeing folks there! Cheers Mark

I won't be able to make in on the 16th, but I'd be highly interested in a constructed tournament- my Mantis deck might (hopefully) be up to the challenge!

No problem Will - I'm going to sit down with Sean and see if we can schedule a monthly tournament again soon.
