Before the Dawn Release Event Sun 22nd May

Triple Play will be hosting a Legend of the Five Rings CCG Before the Dawn release event on Sunday May 22nd. This is a sealed deck tournament, and the entry fee of $25 covers a starter deck and three boosters. The three clans featured are Crab, Lion and Phoenix. We will allow players to choose their starter deck while stocks permit.

Everybody that takes part will receive a special participation promo card (while stocks last). Extra promo cards will also be given out to all participants, and there will be an extra prize for the highest finishing player taking part in their first tournament. There will also be store credit awarded based upon attendance.

Before the Dawn is the first expansion printed with both the Celestial Edition and Emperor Edition bugs, meaning the cards from this set will be tournament legal for close to three years!

Wish I could make it,but I work all day on Sunday

If I can manage to get my dorm packed up after the Legion Warmachine event and manage to finish closing down the res hall, I am so going to be there. L5R is starting to gain some popularity here, so hopefully I can bring the 5/6 of us who are starting to get bitten by the Rokugan bug. Cuz I'm totally feeling the Scorpion sting

Thanks to everyone who turned up! Sean ran the tournament, but we used my computer, so all the results are on here. I hope he doesn't mind me posting a quick summary

We had seven players, which meant at least two of each Clan. Attending were my wife and I, Sean and his wi...er, Tony, and Geoff, Chris and Mike who drove up from Mass/NH - many thanks for making the trip, guys.

We played three rounds of Swiss, and the standings at the end were:

2nd Chris Medico (Crab) 2-1
T- 3rd Geoff Prugh (Phoenix) 2-1
T- 3rd Mike Vallierre (Crab) 2-1
T- 5th Shelby Armitage (Phoenix) 1-2
T- 5th Tony Vandenburg (Crab) 1-2
7th Sean Wolfe (Lion) 1-2

We cut to a final, where Chris earned revenge for his earlier defeat during Swiss and beat me to win his second Triple Play release event. We split $35 in store credit between the top two places, and Chris also won a playset of the promo card 'Masatane', while I won two for second place. Everyone who took part not only received an exclusive participation promo, 'War-ravaged Plains', but also a playset of the superb promo 'Wyrmbone Katana'.

Sean expressed an interest in running a constructed tournament in June - stay tuned for more details. My work schedule seems to want to keep me away on Thursday evenings, but if anyone is interested in maybe drafting the new set or getting together for some games, drop me a line or post away on here!
