Shortish notice, but I just found out today that we were invited to participate in a 40k LEGION event in June at Quarterstaff!
So basically, everyone will compete on Saturday the 28th to decide who gets to move on to the final. There you will represent Triple Play in battle against Quarterstaff's crew, as well as people from game stores across upper new england and montreal!
I will be out of town, so in my stead you will be in the capable hands of Drew.
IF YOU CANNOT/WILL NOT/ARE NOT WILLING TO DRIVE UP TO BURLINGTON ON JUNE 18TH TO COMPETE, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU NOT PARTAKE IN THIS QUALIFIER. OR THAT YOU MAKE A SUCKY LIST AND LOSE ON PURPOSE.
This will be a free tournament with no prizes at stake aside from the chance to represent us in Burlington.
The usual:
When: Saturday May 28th. Register at 10am, start rolling dice at 11am.
How much?: $0.00- This event is for the LEGION final, there will be no prizes awarded.
How do I maked armies?: 1750pts warhammer 40,000 grim darkness

What's all this Legion business?
Is it a new development?

It's a regional series of tournaments for a variety of gaming systems. I can't seem to find a website though, maybe Tony can shed some light on it.

I posted about it a few months ago... do you guys only read the 40k forum? Basically, it's a few game stores in northern new england (and they're trying to recruit more), including Quarterstaff, a store in Montreal, and one in Maine?? i think. 3 to 4 times a year there will be a qualifier tournament where the locals play at their store, and then the top (x) players move on to a regional final to represent their store against the others! I can't find the website right off hand.

So... who's coming to this shindig anyway? Should be a good time, with much carnage ensuing.
I'm trying to get an idea of how many players we're gonna have. Post here and let me know if you plan on attending.

The moment that some of you have been waiting for: the rules! Yay! Forces:- 1750 Point Maximum
- Standard Force Organization Requirements (2 troops, 1 HQ)
- All legal GW codices allowed
- Painting is not required, but appreciated. Keep in mind that if you advance, you will be representing our store to the rest of the area, and we’d really like to show off what a great hobby environment we have here.
- Make sure that all appropriate wargear is represented on the models.
- Please PM me for approval if you have a cool/crazy conversion that you want to use. Nine times out of ten, I’ll approve it because I love conversions, but it doesn’t hurt to be sure.
- Bring necessary gaming materials rulebook, codex for your army, dice, templates and tape measure.
- Bring THREE (3) printed copies of your army list.
- List detail: At minimum the list should show total unit point-cost as well as any upgrade options included. (I.E. For a marine tactical squad, you don’t need to tell everyone that each tactical marine has a bolter, but you do need to mark what special and heavy weapon the squad has, as well as the wargear of the sergeant)
Gaming:- 2 hour time limit for rounds. Warnings given at the half-hour and five minute remaining marks.
- Do NOT start a round that you cannot finish.
- No round should start after the five minute warning (though you may obviously use the time to finish up a round that you are already working on)
- While I would prefer that you would work out rules disputes amongst yourself, I will be on hand to be a judge. Beware, if you call me in, you must accept my ruling.
- There are no battle points. This will be a W/L/D tournament, with the top four winners advancing. In the event of a tie in record, the first tiebreaker will be number of objectives completed. If there is still a tie, then victory points margin in the final round will be used as the final tiebreaker.
Missions
In the interest of fairness should I be called on to play in the tournament due to an odd number of players, I have decided to post the missions in advance. This will be a three round tournament, with a different scenario for each round. For each scenario, there will be three identified missions. The player who has accomplished the MOST missions by the end of the game will be declared the winner. In a situation in which both players have completed the same number of missions, then victory points will be calculated. If one player is found to have 175 or more victory points than the other, then he wins. Otherwise, the game is a true draw. All scenarios utilize the RANDOM GAME LENGTH, DEEPSTRIKE, INFILTRATE, and RESERVES special rules. Scenario 1: Contact!- 1st Mission: Get more units (scoring or otherwise) fully into opponents deployment zone than he has in yours
- 2nd Mission: Control more of 3 objectives (placed 12” from the long board edge at 18”, 36” and 54” from the left short edge) in opponents deployment zone
- 3rd Mission: Control more of 3 objectives (placed 12” from the long board edge at 18”, 36” and 54” from the left short edge) in your deployment zone
Scenario 2: Tip of the Spear
- 1st Mission: Kill points
- 2nd Mission: Center-of-board objective, plus one in the center of each player’s deployment quarter
- 3rd Mission: Get more units (scoring or otherwise) fully into opponents deployment zone than he has in yours
Scenario 3: The Bloodening- 1st Mission: Kill half (rounding up) of your opponent’s kill points (both players may accomplish this)
- 2nd Mission: Center-of-board objective
- 3rd Mission: Nominate and kill one unit (players may not nominate a dedicated transport)
