Hey All,
I'm looking to start Warmachine and having a hard time deciding which army to start with. Leaning more towards Hordes and either Circle Orboros or Legion of Everblight.....but Warmachine Cryx also looks interesting.
Are any of these armies popular and well represented among the players at the store?
I have read some of the Forums on Privateer press and articles at Battlecollege but still can't make up my mind.
What are your thoughts on any of these armies? My main army in WFB is Woodelves, hence I think my attraction to Circle..... just something about those wood critters.
Are any of these an extremely "bad" choice for a starting army?

All three of those armies are good. I play everblight and menoth and they are both really fun and good armies to boot. I think cryx is considered the most powerful army out there but I don't think it's really any more overpowered than other armies out there. You should come down for some test games before deciding.

Circle has been compared to playing similar to Wood Elves, or so I've read. I can't vouch for that statement, but I can say that they can hit really hard, really quickly, but fold pretty easily. They're good for manipulating their movement/teleporting/setting up traps and getting kills that way. Shifting Stones, Kaya's spirit door, etc.
In my opinion, Cryx is a very finesse army. You need to be really familiar with your caster's strengths and weaknesses (more so than other factions) to really create the synergy necessary to debuff/cast spells/hit hard. I guess a steep learning curve could summarize that.
As far as Legion... Well, I know I hate playing against them. eThagrosh and Typhin are the bane of my existence. Nasty little devils.
In terms of finally picking a faction, your best bet is to narrow down whether you prefer FURY or FOCUS more, then narrowing your choices from there.

Me, will, tony, and sean are often around to play on wednesdays and thursdays. Post up a request on the forum and we'll see who can come in for a demo.

Looks like I will try to make it to the store on Thursday the 21st.
Did manage to get a couple of starter games in last night (thanks Brian and Ant) and that was very helpfull.

Glad you enjoyed it Wayne - was good to get in a game! I'm looking forward to facing some Legion... or whatever you end up going for.
I had some very, very good luck that game - that was not representative of what usually happens.
